4 All-Natural Face Masks You Can Make at Home

Skincare Routine

Face masks are a regular part of my skincare routine, and I try to make time to do one at least twice a month for a deep clean I can’t achieve with a face wash or toner. However, I am always hesitant to use masks produced by cosmetic companies, because they typically contain harsh chemicals that I’m not comfortable with putting on my dry, delicate face. As an alternative to spending money on chemical-filled masks at my local drugstore, I prefer to make my own face masks using all-natural, organic ingredients. Making your own face mask is incredibly easy to do, and you will feel fresh and rejuvenated after experiencing the use of a chemical-free mask. With regular use of these homemade face mask recipes, you should notice a dramatic reduction in the size of your pores and an overall improvement in the condition of your skin.

Avocado, Honey and Cucumber

Avocados are rich in potassium, vitamin B, vitamin E and vitamin K. Honey is a natural antibacterial, and cucumbers naturally contain nutrients that reduce puffiness and inflammation. This all-natural face mask will cleanse away dirt, bacteria and oil from your skin while refining your pores and moisturizing your skin. To make this mask, you simply need to mash together 1/2 a ripened organic avocado with 1 tablespoon of dark organic honey and 2 slices of cucumber. Apply the paste to your face and allow it to sit for 15 minutes before gently rinsing it away with warm water. This mask is particularly good for dry complexions, and is one of my favorites for keeping my dry skin under control.

Egg White and Yogurt

This is one of my favorite face masks, because it only contains two ingredients and it’s incredibly quick and simple to make. Simply mix 2 egg whites in a bowl with 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt and apply the mixture to your face. Allow it to set for a few minutes, then rinse with warm water. The egg white will tighten your pores and make your skin look smooth, while the yogurt will hydrate your skin.

Banana and Honey

If you have an oily complexion, this is the mask for you! The banana will help absorb excess oil from your face while the natural antibacterial properties of honey will clear away bacterial buildup from your pores. Simply mash a ripe organic banana with 1 tablespoon of dark organic honey and apply. Allow the mixture to sit on your face for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Strawberries and Sour Cream

This is my go-to mask for clearing up acne and preventing it from coming back in the future. Strawberries are a natural source of salicylic acid, one of the most popular ingredients found in over-the-counter acne medications. Simply mash 1/4 cup of fresh organic strawberries with 1/4 cup organic sour cream and apply the mask to your face. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse it away with warm water. As an alternative to sour cream, you can also use plain Greek yogurt.
