Woodfield Mall in Chicagoland Celebrates the Holidays

Chicagoland, Pet Carriers, Schaumburg, Snow Globes

Woodfield Shopping Mall is a popular mall in the suburban area of Schaumburg, about 35 miles west of the City of Chicago. The mall attracts shoppers from miles away to enjoy the fine selection of merchandise.

Woodfield Mall is ready for the Christmas holidays season and the happy shoppers and their families.

Black Friday

Woodfield Mall will be closed on Thanksgiving Thursday, but will open early on Black Friday. At 6 am the mall will open for the busiest shopping day of the year. Some stores may not open that early, so if you are interested in a particular store, call ahead and verify their hours.

Fred Claus Snow Globes

Fred Claus, the Christmas movie starring Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti, will brought to life at the mall. The movie will be showing in theaters starting November 9.

The Fred Claus Interactive Snow Globe Exhibit includes a 20 food walk through snow globe with a cold winter blast and falling snow, simulated the North Pole. Inside the globe, visitors can interact with life sized sculptures of film characters and hear the music from the movie soundtrack. Three dimensional scenes from Fred Claus are showcased in three six food snow globes. Buttons launch interactive elements. Visitors can also walk through a 28 foot holiday tree and be transported into Santa’s workshop. Visitors can get their pictures taken with characters of Fred Claus.

Santa Claus is coming to Woodfield!

Santa’s arrival will be heralded with a parade on November 15 at 11:30 am. Santa available to visit with the children until December 24. It is time to get your Christmas pictures taken with the Jolly Old Elf. Santa makes his home under the giant Xmas tree in the mall during the festive holiday season. One November 18 Santa will pose with your dog or cat. Pets must be leashed or inside pet carriers.

Woodfield mall has a great variety of stores, some of which are: Macy’s, Lord and Taylor, Nordstrom, JC Penny and Sears. There are restaurants and a food court at the mall, so visitors can make a day of it. Visitors who want to stay in the Woodfield area can find hotels nearby.

Free Trolley

Festive holiday shoppers flock to Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg by the carload and the bus load. Woodfield is a popular destiantion for bus tours from Illinois and neighboring states, such as Wisconsin, Indiana and Iowa. The parking lot gets full, so plan to arrive early. There is a trolley offering free transportation from nearby parking lots.

The Schaumburg Woodfield Trolley offers free transportation between the Woodfield area retail centers. Trolley stops include: Ikea, Roosevelt University, Costco, Marshalls, Borders, Woodfield mall Entrance (lower lever0 between JC Penney & Nordstrom. Woodfield Mall Entrance (upper lever) between Sears & Lord and Taylor,, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Carson Pririe Scott, Loews Theaters and Pack Northwest Transportation Center.

The free Trolley operates Monday-Friday Noon – 9 pm, Saturday 10 am – o pm and Sunday 11 am – 6 pm. There is no service on Thanksgiving Day and Easter Day.
