Wisconsin Slopes: The Best Skiing and Snowboarding Hills in Wisconsin

There are a lot of great hills in Wisconsin that are great for skiing and tubing in the winter time. There is usually enough snow in Wisconsin in the winter to enjoy these places. If not a lot of them will make fake snow so that they can keep the hills open and the customers happy.

Bruce Mound is located in Neillsville, Wisconsin and is a great winter hill. They open on December 15th of every year. They have 7 great cross country skiing trails and 4 lifts for skiers to use. Their highest vertical drop is 375 feet.

They have hills for all different age and skill levels. There are 3 beginners, 2 intermediates and 3 advanced slopes. Both skiers and snowboarders are allowed to use the slopes. There longest slope is 3,000 feet! All the slopes have lights on them also so you can even ski when it gets dark. They have over 40 acres of area to ski on.

Besides the slopes they also have 5 awesome tubing hills. When you get to the bottom they have a tow rope that will pull you back to the top. These tubing hills are a lot of fun and great for all ages. Younger ones should ride on a tube with an adult to be safe.

They have professional people patrolling the slopes for emergencies. They also teach skiing and snowboarding lessons here. And if you don’t have any equipment you can rent it from their rental shop.

After a long day of having fun you can then go hang out at the snack bar. Or you can go in there just to warm up with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. It is a great atmosphere in there and you can sit in front of a warm and toasty fire.

Powers Bluff is located in Arpin, Wisconsin and is an ok winter fun park. They have 3 trails that are available for cross country skiing. The lengths of the trails range between 1300-1500 feet. So you can get some nice exercise on these trails.

They also have a hill that has 3 separate paths for tubing. They are a lot of fun for all ages also. This hill also has a tow rope to bring you back up to the top when you reach the bottom.

There is not as much for ski hills as there is at Bruce Mound. The ski hill only has 2 different spots to ski or snowboard from. They also allow snowboarding here. Their highest vertical drop is 275 feet.

Powers Bluff also has a rental place for all your equipment and a great snack bar area. The shelter is a beautiful stone building that has 2 fireplaces and lots of picnic tables for sitting areas inside.

Rib Mountain located in Wausau is another great winter fun area. They open up in late November. With a total of 13 runs they are guaranteed to have some fun and fast paced slopes. They also have the highest vertical drop measuring at 624 feet!

The runs are over a mile long and are a variety of all different experience levels for skiers of all ages. They also make fake snow here so if the Wisconsin winter isn’t producing enough snow, the slopes will still be open.

They have lighted trails for night time skiing. They have professional instructors there to give you private skiing lessons if needed. The lessons also make perfect gifts for others. The slopes are home to the Badger State Winter Games.

From beginner to advance they also have trails for everyone for cross country skiing. With trails from .5 miles to 9.6 miles you are sure to get a great scenic workout. They are both challenging and fun.

Trollhaugen Ski Area is located in Dresser and has 22 fun and thrilling runs for everyone to enjoy. Bjorkedahl hill is a fun and curvy hill that even has a ½ pipe for the more experienced skiers. The race course is for those that seek more of a fast paced thrill with weaving back and forth between flags. Lee’s run is a great hill that finishes off with a chute at the bottom! Plus there are plenty of other slopes to check out.

They have 1.5 miles of cross country skiing. The trails are well groomed and very scenic. They also have tubing hills that have a various levels of hills and curves. They also have a tow rope to pull you back to the top.

They also have a cute little snack area where you can warm up and grab a bite to eat. Ski equipment rentals are also available on the grounds. This is one of my favorite spots to go to for ski hills!

These are just a few of the many hills that are in Wisconsin. According the locals they are some of the better ones to go to. So make sure you check them out this winter!
