Window Blinds Sold by Lowe’s Stores Recalled

Kp, lowe's, Window Blinds

Springs Window Fashions has issued a voluntary recall for window blinds sold solely by Lowe’s stores. Even though there have been no reported incidents, it has been discovered that these blinds pose a strangulation hazard to young children. Springs Window Fashions has recalled these blinds for immediate repair. Consumers who have purchased these blinds in March 2007 through July 2007 and are currently using these products should discontinue usage immediately. The costs of the blinds were between $24 and $40. There are about 140,000 units of these window blinds being recalled.

Apparently these window blinds were manufactured with a loop pull cord. Consumers should examine their blinds carefully to see if they need to take further action. First they should determine if these two inch Natural Faux Wood Plantation blinds were sold under the Basic Blindz brand. The blinds consist of a yellow head rail made of steel. There is a cord tilter on the left used to open and close the blinds. To raise and lower the blinds there is a double pull cord. The double pull cord is joined at a cord connector and results in a single cord on the right side of the blinds.

There are stickers placed on the yellow head rails of each window blind. The stickers read, “Springs Window Fashion LLC, Middleton, WI 53562,” “Made in China,” and “Manufacturing Date Code.” Consumers should also be aware that blinds containing manufacturing date codes are included in the recall. These codes are JX, JY, JZ, KO, KP, KQ, KR, KS, and KT. Consumers should also look at the window blind’s packaging for the item number. There is an item number for Spring Window Fashions and an item number for Lowe’s. Spring Window Fashion has an eight digit item number that begins with 75 and Lowe’s has a six digit item number that begins with 25.
