According to a series of press releases from the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission), pointed out by the New York Attorney General, several costume jewelry items have been recalled, due to excessive levels of lead.
The recalls affect seven different brands and were sold at a variety of stores.
All of these products were made in China and are being recalled due to excessive lead amounts.
Listed below is each brand of jewelry, followed by affected products, where the items were sold, and each manufacturer’s recall instructions.
Rachael Rose & Distinctly Basics
Rachael Rose and Distinctly Basics have both issued a voluntary recall of their jewelry products sold at Family Dollar stores nationwide due to excessive lead amounts.
The products include:
key rings and pins with crosses and fish symbols
key rings with “mom” and cheerleader charms
bracelets with charms (handbags, flip-flops, hearts, dresses, and flowers)
silver colored rings with designs or various colored stones
clutchless hoop earrings with decorations
filigree and long drop earrings with various colored stones
These items were sold at Family Dollar stores nationwide between January 2003 and August 2007. They retailed between $.50 and $2 each.
These items should be immediately removed from the use of children and returned to a Family Dollar for a full refund.

Pure Allure Metal Jewelry
Pure Allure has voluntarily recalled its Crystal Innovations jewelry due to excessive lead exposure.
They hold the following names and barcode SKU #’s:

These items were sold at Michael’s craft stores from April 2006 to September 2007 and should immediately be removed from the use of children and returned to the store they were purchased at. These sold at about $5 each.

Sparkle City/Buy-Rite Inc
Buy-Rite Inc is voluntarily recalling its “Sparkle City” Charm Bracelets and Tack Pin sets due to excessive lead amounts.
The recalled charm bracelets contain star and butterfly charms that are silver in color and beads of clear and pink colors that hand from a chain that is silver in color.
The tack pins are either butterflies that are silver in color or stars that have clear and pink beads.
These items were sold at Big Lots stores around the nation from April 2005 to April 2007 at about $1 each.
These products should be immediately removed from the use of children and returned to the store of purchase for a full refund. If you are unable to return it to the stores, contact Buy-Rite for further information on receiving a refund.

Cherrydale Inc
Cherrydale Inc has voluntarily recalled its Decorative Stretchable Aqua Bracelets due to excessive lead amounts.
The bracelets are stretchable with square linking beads that are silver. The other beads are aqua colored.
The SKU# is 5384706813. It is printed on the packaging.
These were sold through various dollar stores, school fundraising events, and liquidators for about $1 – $12 each. They were sold between September 2003 and April 2007.
These products should be immediately removed from the use of children and returned where purchased for a full refund.

Colossal Jewelry & Accessories
Colossal Jewelry & Accessories has voluntarily recalled some children’s metal necklaces and bracelets due to excessive lead amounts. The necklaces and bracelets have silver charms and some have colored beads as well. Some of the packaging reads “Awesome Boutique” or “Share the Love”.
One necklace is made with a pink cord and has a metal flower charm hanging from it. Included is also a metal heart charm bracelet, a metal heart angel charm bracelet with various colored beads, a metal bracelet that has four heart charms and beads that are ruby in color, necklaces with hanging painted hearts, and necklaces with various tiny colored purses.
These items were sold at a variety of dollar and discount stores around the nation for about $1 each from January 2005 to June 2007.
These items should be immediately removed from these of children and returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.

La Femme NY Inc
La Femme NY Inc has issued a voluntary recall of its childrens necklace and earring sets due to excessive lead amounts.
The necklace sets were sold at a variety of dollar stores nationwide and retailed around $1 each. The necklaces have a dangling charm with jewels surrounding the center. The charm also has dangling chains with jewels. The earrings have dangling chains with jewels in them. They come in various colors.
The product numbers are 9318-20, 9318-13, 9318-22, and 9318-18.
These were sold at a variety of dollar stores nationwide from October 2005 – April 2007.
This product should be immediately removed from the use of children and returned to the original store of purchase.
