Alabama, Anniston, Dumb Laws

If you thinking about taking a road trip through the state of Alabama, there are a few dumb laws that you should be aware of that pertain to driving on Alabama roads.

Be sure to wear shoes while driving, it is illegal to drive in Alabama barefooted.

It is legal to drive the wrong way down a one-way street if you have a lantern attached to the front of your automobile. I suppose if you remove the lantern from the front of your car, it would be OK.

You absolutely must have windshield wipers on your car to drive on Alabama roads.

It is illegal for a driver to be blindfolded while operating a vehicle. You just know someone tried this for there to be a law made against doing it.

The good news is, you won’t be bothered by those pesky bicycle riders while on the interstate near Mobile, Alabama. Bicycle riders are banned from the interstate highway.

If you stop in Alabama while on our road trip to take in some of the sights, there are dumb laws that may curtail some of your activities.

You will not be able to see any bears wrestling, since that is illegal. You will not be able to impersonate a member of the clergy. You will not be able to play dominos on Sunday. You may not wear a mask in public. Don’t even think about putting salt on a railroad track, that is a crime punishable by death, and never carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket.

In Anniston, Alabama, you may not wear blue jeans on Noble Street. In Auburn, Alabama it is illegal to bike, roller-skate, skateboard, or inline skate in a commercially zoned area. In Mobile, Alabama you can not take a bath in the city fountain, and women can not wear lewd dress or shoes with sharp high heels. You can’t spit orange peels on the sidewalk or play funk ball in the city limits of Mobile, either.

If you are looking for a spouse and have kinfolk in Alabama, incestuous marriages are legal. There is even a safeguard dumb law in place for women who might want to marry their brother/uncle/cousin, women are able to retain all property they owned prior to the marriage in the case of divorce. However, this provision does not apply to men.

And the last dumb law of Alabama that I will mention, is it is illegal to flick boogers into the wind, flicking boogers against the wind we can assume, would be perfectly legal.

The dumb laws of Alabama would make a road trip and visit to the state very interesting.
