Two Free Proxies that Work

Free File, Vpn

As you can probably guess, there’s quite a few kind of paid proxy software out there, and other monthly fees you can get tied up in to unblock sites at work, school, and abroad. There’s also lots of free stuff out there. But if you’ve ever done a search for free proxies, you know that most of what you come up with is pure B. S. No matter what the search term is, most of the first page of Google is littered with sites pretending to be free proxies, but are actually just Google Adsense sites set up to seduce you into clicking their ads so they can make money. A couple recent searches I did recently to research this article left me frustrated, so perhaps you can hear the bitterness still left in my tone. So hopefully you’ve stumbled upon this article, so you can get hooked up with some free proxies that work well (tried and proven by me).

Hotspot Shield

Whether this is a VPN or a proxy is still questionable – I’ve read both. Either way, it doesn’t matter because it unblock sites. I’d say it’s probably a VPN because you’ve got to download a file and open up a program to get started, much in the way a VPN works. But this won’t get you access to Hulu and Netflix – perhaps because they’ve blocked the HSS IP addresses. Either way, most other firewall problems can be bypassed with HSS, for free, and if you like it, there’s an upgrade for a fee of course. The free version has its kinks, but hey, what do you expect from something free. The good news is that for years, HSS has been around, so bookmark it, because it will still be here tomorrow, unlike some other free proxies out there.

Hide My Ass

I prefer this site actually, because the design is a bit cleaner, and there’s more online tools (also free). I don’t actually use them, but the fact that they’re there makes me feel like I’m getting more out of the site. What I do use on the site is the free web based proxy. Reliable and pretty fast, the free web based proxy is a gem. They’ve also got free anonymous email, free file uploading tools, and as you would expect, an upgrade available. The upgrade is also pretty awesome, but requires a monthly fee, so if you haven’t got the cash, you can stick with the freebies and be alright.

Other than the free web based proxy, HMA also boasts an extensive list of open proxy servers (from other sources) that they frequently update to give you fresh IPs. This is another way to change your IP address. Finding a proxy that works among these open proxies is much easier than searching in Google because, as I mentioned above, you’ve got to wade through the B. S. advertisements to get to anything good.
