Love sushi and live in north Chicago? Are you looking for a reasonable night on the town or a fancy anniversary dinner? Here is a list of the best places to meet all your sushi needs!

Sushi is definitely the new it food. There are upscale sushi restaurants that charge crazy amounts of money for a small amount of food. There are all you can eat sushi restaurants that have mediocre quality at best. Then there are those special Chicago restaurants that good food for reasonable prices are the TOP priority. Here is a list to help you choose the perfect sushi restaurant for a night out with the girls, your partner, or work.

5. Agami (Uptown) This is definitely the big event restaurant. If you have a bachelorette party or a group of friends in town, or a birthday party this is the place to go. It’s the priciest on this list, but also has the most space and the best environment. For down town pricest, it is still very reasonable. They have a great menu and some fabulous rolls. The menu is broad and offers something for everyone. I love the look of Agami and it’s definitely where I go when I want to splurge and make it special. They are also available for private parties. BEST ROLL: Green Turtle COST: Most expensive roll 17 dollars. PARKING: Valet on the weekends, street parking free/box WEB SITE: http://www.agamisushi.com/home.php

4. Tank Sushi (Lincoln Square) The most inventive and creative rolls I’ve had in Chicago! They really take time and care to fulfill all the taste you could want in a roll. It’s a great place for a date, but not a group that’s more than 5 or 6. They have an awesome menu aside from just sushi as well. It’s a bit pricier than some of the others on this list, but it’s worth it because they aren’t just the regular rolls you get used to seeing time and time again. Definitely worth checking out! BEST ROLL: Robusuta COST: Most expensive roll 16.25 dollars. In general all the rolls are a couple more dollars than the average price, but worth it. PARKING: Street parking/free and pay box WEB SITE: http://www.tanksushi.com/menu.html

3. Blue Ocean (Uptown/Ravenswood) Hidden on the side of an apartment building, there is definitely more than meets the eye. It’s huge in there! They have a fabulous menu and it’s a great place to take a large group! It’s great for a first date, a work group, and something fancy. The best thing is they have half rolls and whole rolls! They also have an interesting appetizer list and a menu other than sushi including reasonably priced entrees like Fillet Mignon. This might be the look Indie Cafe would have if they had the space. BEST ROLL: Blue Ocean Signature Roll COST: Most expensive roll 15 dollars. PARKING: Limited parking lot space. Street parking. 2. Indie Cafe (Edgewater, Chicago) The artsy feel and ambiance make this a great place for a date that is more of a special occasion. The prices are reasonable for the fact that it is fancier. It does get a little crowded and the seating is close, so still not one to bring a huge group to. They have really tasty desserts and a large menu aside from sushi. This is a great place to bring someone who isn’t sure about trying sushi or isn’t a fan, because you get to eat your heart out and they have dozens of dishes to choose from. They have both a Japanese and a Thai menu. BEST ROLL: Dragon COST: Most expensive roll 15 dollars. PARKING: Pay Box street parking, limited free street parking WEB SITE: http://www.indiecafe.us/index.html

1. Sashimi Sashimi (Evanston, IL) When they say they have the “finest and freshest sushi” they are telling the truth. They may be ten minutes outside of Rogers Park, but it is worth the drive. They have a long list of creative rolls and the freshest bubble tea I’ve ever had. They use only fresh fruit. The prices are the best I’ve seen for the quality of food. Sashimi Sashimi is not known for it’s ambiance. It is very simple, but very clean. It’s not a place to take a huge group, but great for a date or a group of 5 or less. BEST ROLL: Sumo Godzilla COST: Extremely reasonable. Most expensive roll is 12 dollars. PARKING: Street parking w/ meters and two parking garages nearby. WEB SITE: http://www.sashimisashimi.com/
