Breaking up is very hard to do. There are certain songs that are great to listen to if you are upset from a break up. Some break ups are full of heartache, where others are just a realization of what you really had. I have a list of 20 songs that will help anyone through no matter what their situation is one of these songs will fit.
Over You by Daughtry is an excellent song because it talks about getting over the person that broke your heart. Walk Away by Ben Harper makes the list because it has great advice in the song. Sometimes you have to let them go, and sometimes they will come back if it is meant to be. It is also a very soothing song for the heart. Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac is an old song, but it is great for a break up. It made the list because it is basically telling you and them to move on with your life.
Love Is a Battlefield by Pat Benetar made the list because of the obvious title. In particular, I love the part that says, “You’re begging me to go, you’re making me stay” because it describes a lot of break ups where you know you hurt them and they hurt you repeatedly. You love them so much but you don’t want to leave.
Now that it’s over by Everclear made the list because it has one particularly great part: “Maybe we can be friends.” This is not your typical result in most relationships, but some can be friends after a break up. Some people do just realize they were better off friends.
I Hate Myself for Loving You by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts made the list because it explains how many couples fight and run from each other, but they always end up back together. It also calls for the other one in the relationship to treat you right. This is essential in any relationship for it to work. You have to respect each other and treat the other person right.
No Good by Kate Voegele is a typical break up song. It made the list because it is a fun upbeat song that tells about how they were just no good for you. This is the best way to make you feel better. You Outta Know by Alanis Morissette is about acceptance of a break up. It is a great song to listen to that teaches you how to be friendly about them finding someone new.
The River covered by Sarah McLachlan is a beautiful song. She covered it and I think it’s better than the original because her voice is more soothing. I take the song as that she pushed the guy away and realizes now that she wants him back. This is another thing that happens in some relationships and is the reason why it made the list.
My December by Linkin Park made the list because it is an excellent song talking about the mistakes made in a relationship. It is a very pretty song that everyone can benfit from listening to it.
She Hates Me by Puddle of Mudd made the list because it is talking about how a relationship can turn ugly really quick. This is from a guy’s perspective and it is one that you can laugh at and it might make you feel better. Take Another Little Piece of My Heart by Janis Joplin is a great song for this list because it tells of how you give your all to make them feel special.
Don’t Speak by No Doubt made the list because she is explaining how hard a break up can be and the feelings that you are having are probably similar. It’s also telling about how she wants the good memories and not the reasons for the break up. Some things are just better left unsaid.
Cold as You by Taylor Swift has a lot of great things in the lyrics. She talks about how this couple is always fighting and bringing out the worst in each other. It’s also talking about how the guy is so cold and cruel that he is pushing her away. This is a great song to listen to if you’ve ever been in this situation.
My Immortal by Evanescence is a beautiful song that made the list. It shows how as a couple you were very supportive towards them in the many ways. It also shows how you still love them no matter what.
Already Gone by the Eagles made the list because it’s already talking about how someone has moved on even though the relationship hasn’t ended yet. He heard from someone else that you were going to end it, so he just decided to move on.
Before He cheats by Carrie Underwood is a song about revenge. This is the way you honestly feel when someone cheats on you and is a great break up song. It made the list and is one of the best ones to make you feel better.
Come to Bed by Gretchen Wilson is a great song about working out your problems. It is a good break up song because it reminds you of the importance of communication. It is a great song that tells you to remember what you have and trying to save it.
Linger by the Cranberries made the list because it tells a great story about how you think a relationship will start and how you fall for someone.
Leave the Pieces by the Wreckers is the last song on this list because it tells about how you don’t know if you really love someone, so you don’t want to let them go. Then you tell them that you will be fine and to just leave you alone. It is a great way to end this list because it is all about being fine with a break up and that nothing will change your mind.
With all of these songs it’s important to remember the good, but also learn from the mistakes of the relationships.
