Memorial Day – San Antonio 2012

Originally known as “Decoration Day,” Memorial Day is a Federal holiday that began in the Southern States as event to honor Union soldiers who had died during the American Civil War. After World War I, the honor was extended to include the men and women who died in any war or military action.

On Memorial Day flags will fly at half-mast from dawn until noon and non-essential Government offices will be closed as well as schools, businesses, and other organizations. Not sure what you will do with all that time off? Fear not! I have some suggestions to help you celebrate this special holiday!
