Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And I am gearing up for the New Idol Season!!! So these are the hottest male American Idol contestants in my opinion. I define sexy as an ability to make others feel good about themselves in addition to pleasant looking. So Fan Relationship and the reaction to the judges comments (good or bad) is also an important criteria for hotness. Since I am in my mid thirties now it would feel wrong to gush about a boyish looking or younger contestant if that makes sense.
Justin Guarini, Matthew Metzger, Mario Vasquez and Luke Menard make my honorable mention category in the hottest male contestant. I am not a big TV fan so I didn’t know about American Idol until the end of season 1. would have probably been a fan of Justin Guarini since he is unconventionally looking. Matthew Metzger participated in Season 3 but never made it in the top ten. Paula praised his smile. He joined a soap opera and had a gig in television. Mario Vasquez competed in season 4 and made it in the top twelve but then withdrew. Mario recorded an album but was then dropped by the record label. Luke Menard got got little airtime in season 7. He didn’t make it in the top twelve but was praised for his vocal talent. Soon after his elimination he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Last I heard was that he was doing good health wise.
9. Jared Cotter auditioned in Season 5. He was an American Idol Finalist and his great looks made it easy to support him. However he received a lack of airtime. Jared went to host Fuse and still expresses his thoughts on American Idol contestants on Idol Chatter according to his myspace page.
8. Anthony Federov was told as a child after a surgery that he may not be able to talk yet sing again.But he beat the odds and competed on Idol in Season 4 where he finished 4. In the same season there were rumors that Anthony Federov and Carrie Underwood were an item. Those rumors increased after Carrie Underwood cried openly during his elimination and the camera caught her mouthing:” I love you” to him. Carrie also took him to the CMA awards in 2006. Anthony’s brother was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma two days after Anthony came off the show. Federov stayed busy after Idol. He participated in Fear Factor with Carmen Rasmussen. He was a judge on Military Idol. He sang in an off-Broadway production and played Joseph for the Steven Curtis Chapman Foundation. He also became a spokesperson for the sarcoma Foundation.
7. Ace Young participated in Season 5 of American Idol. He was known as the guy with the beanie and as Chris Daughtry’s closest buddy there. He finished seven place in the season. Ace Young was also popular for providing Chris Daughtry with support after his untimely elimination. Ace was nominated for the Grammy in 2007 as a songwriter for Chris Daughtry’s album. He stared in the Fox Hit Series “Bones” and currently sings on Broadway. He also released an album in 2008 but I don’t think it is doing very well.
6. Jason Castro was an American Idol Finalist on Season 7. Jason Castro was known for his dread locks and his gorgeous blue eyes. Castro didn’t have any formal training before participating on Idol and has only sang five times in public according to him. He did however play the drums in the Reality Show Cheyenne before American Idol. Castro was an Early Favorite but ended up finishing 3. He played the ukulele and guitar on American Idol. Jason Castro brought Jeff Buckley cover of Hallelujah back to the forefront. During the American Idol Live Tour Jason Castro brought a video of the contestants weekly and invented Date Night with fans. From what I am seeing on his webpage he is still doing it. Jason Castro released two albums and one just in November of 2010. I love the album:”Who I am”.
5. Josh Gracin was on Active Duty in the Marines when he auditioned for Season 2 of American Idol where he ranked 4. He is credited for bringing the country to the show. Josh Gracin’s Idol appearances were constantly shadowed by rumors of him having to deploy to Iraq. However he was able to finish the season in third place. For some reason he didn’t participate in the American Idol Finale. He was also the only contestant who didn’t make it on the American Idol Tour. I still have my thoughts on that one and I highly doubt that the Marines were the ones to blame. Josh stood out for the way he mingled with Simon Cowell on live television after Cowell repeatedly told him he didn’t like him. In the end Simon did warm up to him and told him that he pulled it off singing the same song as Clay Aiken bringing the same result in the same show. (That is how I interpreted Simon’s comment that day) After an honorable discharge from the military Josh Gracin was signed by Lyricstreet. He had moderate success on Country Radio with his fist single: “Nothing to Lose” which certified gold. Josh Gracin gave a song to Disney and filled in as Lead singer for Lonestar a couple times. He released three albums, two with lyricstreets and the last one independently. Josh is married and has three children.
4. Casey James was on last season of American Idol where he ranked in 3rd place. Casey James stripped (taking the shirt off) during the American Idol audition after judge Kara Dio Guardi told him to unbutton a little bit and Randy told him to take the shirt off. Casey James was known as the guitar player of last season and possible as one of the best ever on the Idol stage. Judge Kara Dio Guardi also seemed to have a thing for him.. Casey has signed with Sony.
3. Kris Allen won American Idol in Season 8. Kris had little airtime and won people over a little bit at a time show after show. He is not hot in the “hot” sense of word more cute like a younger brother would be. Kris was the underdog. Simon Cowell commented that Kris introduced his wife too early to viewers and that might not get him the votes of female voters. In any case the charming Idol winner won votes with close up shots and his incredible skills by making covers his own. He played the keyboard, the piano and the guitar on the American Idol stage and found the courage to ditch the house band and only accompany himself with an acoustic guitar. Kris released his debut album last year and made it in the Forbes top ten list for most earning American Idol contestant.
2. David Cook won American Idol in Season 7. That was the season where contestants were allowed to bring music instruments to the show for the first time. He was criticized in the beginning for not having enough stage presence.But Cook slowly changed his looks and gained confidence on the Idol stage. David Cook’s also possessed the ability to make songs his own and was able to put a slight rock edge to the songs. He however surprised on Broadway night where he left the song to the original. David Cook was emotional a couple times on the show but never released the reason why even so Ryan Seacrest tried to press the story out of him . However fans found out soon that his brother was battling brain cancer and fans from his hometown donated money so his brother could catch a private medical flight to see him perform. David Cook’s brother died soon after the show. David Cook donated his American Idol Finale live performance to brain tumor research and also is involved with “Race for Hope”. Cook has self released an album before his American Idol run and one with a record label after his American Idol win. We are hoping to get an new album soon.
1. Chris Daughtry is in my opinion the hottest American Idol contestant. Daughtry was participating in Season 5 and was eliminated in a shocking elimination while in the top four. Everyone just assumed that Daughtry would be in the finale and that is the explanation for many why he didn’t make it. People were just not voting for him because they didn’t see him in danger. After the elimination the rock band :” Daughtry’ was formed. Daughtry is the third top earning American Idol contestant and one of the most successful contestants to date. Daughtry song:” Home” was used as the elimination song for American Idol Season 6. In 200 7 Daughtry won favorite Rock/Pop group, favorite album, favorite adult/contemporary and favorite break through artists at the AMA. Daughtry was also nominated for best rock album, best rock song and best rock/pop performance at the Grammy’s. The heartthrob is married and has four children including his twins born in November.
