The Special K Diet: A Review

Simple Diet, Special K

The Special K diet is a diet which offers a low calorie alternative to the more expensive and potentially dangerous “juicing” diets. It operates by offering consumers a fairly simple diet plan. Replace two meals throughout the day with Special K and eat a sensible third dinner.

There really shouldn’t be any surprise that this program works and does help you lose weight. Eating a sensible dinner of two ounces of meat and a serving of vegetables along with the two bowls of Special K, the dieter will average around 1200 -1400 calories. The average diet is around 2000 calories and one of the tenets of good weight loss is that you have to eat less calories than the ones you consume. Most people will definitely fall into the “consume more than 1200 calories per day.”

You can’t ask for a better diet than one that is almost guaranteed to lose weight.

I tried this diet for a month, needing to lose eight pounds for the summer beach season. I am a definite convert, as it was the only quick diet that allowed me to lose weight without forcing me to give up carbohydrates. I need energy to get through the day, and giving up carbs, like so many of the other fad diets request, was a considerable deal breaker for me.

For my diet, I ate one bowl of Vanilla Almond Special K in the morning, one bowl of Special K Red Berries for lunch, and a sensible dinner. My dinner usually consisted of a piece of chicken or turkey and fresh fruits and vegetables. I did occasionally add less than a teaspoon of fresh fruit to the bowls of cereal simply to increase the amount of fruits I consumed during the day. I also increased the amount of exercise I took in, managing a daily walk and a small amount of Pilates two to three times a week.

As a result, I lost ten pounds in a month, two pounds more than my desired goal.

This diet does demand a very strict adherence, and there will be people who will be unable to follow it because they just aren’t cereal eaters. I didn’t have that problem, as cereal has long since been a beloved snack. For that matter, I was happy just to find a product that would let me consume cereal on a daily basis, instead of trying to steal away all my beloved cereal, with its load of carbohydrates.

Another consideration to anyone trying the diet is that it is absolutely essential to include plenty of fiber in that free meal at the end of the day. The cereal is great and has plenty of nutrients, but a result of eating two bowls of cereal every day can result in constipation for the more sensitive bowels if you do not add additional fiber needed to contract that problem.

The Special K diet is an affordable and tasty weight loss plan that comes complete with a free trial. It is a recommended diet plan to anyone who needs to lose weight but cannot afford the expensive and sometimes vulgar diet plans that are alternatives.
