The Radisson Plaza Hotel in downtown Lexington, Kentucky, is a high-rise hotel located in the heart of the city. The Radisson Plaza Hotel is convenient to Lexington city attractions including downtown shopping and restaurants, The University of Kentucky, and Rupp Arena, home of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and a variety of national traveling events. While not without some flaws, The Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington is a respectable choice for accommodations in downtown Lexington.
The Radisson Plaza Hotel is located on West Vine Street in Lexington, adjacent to the Victorian Square shopping center and Rupp Arena. During my stay I arrived at the Radisson Plaza Hotel around 9 a.m. on a weekday. The Radisson parking garage was already full. I was directed to a nearby garage. Although I was not charged for my time spent in the nearby garage, the extra walking wasn’t particularly desirable. Fortunately, Lexington is full of skywalks so it was not necessary to enter the 12-degree weather outside to get back to the Radisson. From the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington you can access a large portion of the downtown area shopping and eating establishments without ever having to go outside.
The lobby of the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington has a nice charm like a hotel out of the 1940s. A full restaurant and a separate bar are located in the lobby, as well as an upscale jewelry store. A small business center which houses two internet connected computers with print stations is available in the lobby for guest use as well. The staff at the check-in desk were very friendly and accommodating and always available for questions.
The guest rooms of the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington are adequate, but certainly not spectacular. For my special conference rate of $99 a night before taxes I had a king sized bed in a standard room. The sleep number beds offered by Radisson hotels throughout the nation are very nice. The bedding was comfortable and the room was generally clean. The carpet of the Radisson Plaza Hotel guest rooms really needs to be replaced as there were many stains. Unfortunately, the sink is not located outside of the bathroom which is a nice feature when you are traveling with multiple people. The bathroom countertops also were in need of updating. Despite these basic flaws, The Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington, KY still had comfortable and clean guest rooms to offer.
Also located at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington, KY are some guest amenities including an indoor pool and fitness center. Since I was visiting for a conference I did not have time to use these, however visually they both seemed to be well-kept and were of adequate size. The conference facilities at the Radisson Plaza Hotel were nicely appointed and kept at a comfortable temperature. The conference food served by the Radisson was excellent.
Overall I give the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington, KY 3 ½ stars out of 5. While the hotel is by no means spectacular, it does offer friendly service, a great location, and comfortable guest beds. If you are visiting specifically the downtown area of Lexington consider the Radisson Plaza Hotel.
