The pregnancy hype surrounding Jamie Lynn Spears is starting to get weird.
First, a teenage pregnant girl (or TV star) is not new. The only new thing about it is that she actually came out and told people before the rumor mill and her baby bump grew. So, that’s the craziest part of this story. She was honest.
Second, why are major news stations covering Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy like it’s MAJOR news? They’re treating her plight as if she is responsible for the sex lives of every little girl in America. Yes, she has a show on Nickelodeon, but she doesn’t hold the reigns to the loins of every young girl in America. And let’s face it, if you have a child who looks at Jamie Lynn and does everything does – including getting knocked up – they’ve got problems that far extend her influence.
Third, when does someone’s mother get off the hook? Although it is apparent that she didn’t do everything perfect, she can’t be responsible for everything that her child does or doesn’t do. When Britney was on top and Jamie Lynn wasn’t pregnant, no one was giving their mother the ultimate credit for their success. So why does the mother always get the ultimate credit for a child’s failure?
Finally, when a Hollywood starlet gets pregnant, must their always be a second, potential daddy? Lil Romeo (Master P’s son) is allegedly now the ‘real’ daddy of Jamie Lynn’s baby – not Casey Aldridge. Although the idea of Lil Romeo impregnating her is not far-fetched, it just sounds like a well-crafted publicity stunt. Now, her pregnancy story will live on and not get stale in the American public eye.
