The First Years Recall RC2 Children’s Feeding Seats

Potty Seats, The First Years

According to a recent press release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The First Years has recalled its Newborn-to-Toddler Reclining Feeding Seats.

Consumers are alerted to immediately stop using this product.

The First Years Newborn-to-Toddler Reclining Feeding Seats pose a risk to infants and children, in that they can cause the children to fall. The straps used for restraining the child can come out of the waist strap slots, which causes a hazard risk to young children.

RC2 has received 38 reports of restraining straps pulling out of the waist straps fully or partially. They have received 12 reports of children falling out of the chairs.

The First Years Newborn-to-Toddler Reclining Feeding Seats come in various colors. The seats are adjustable and can be positioned in a reclined or upright position. The seat comes with a detachable feeding tray, a reversible seat cushion, and a 3-point safety harness belt.

The recalled seats have a label sewn into the seat cushion that reads “the first years by Learning Curve. This voluntary safety recall includes all of the feeding seats except those with an “R” stamped inside of a circle on the seat back on both the left and right sides or the ones with waist strap slots that are nine inches apart.

These products were manufactured in the United States and were distributed by RC2 Corp. of Oakbrook, Illinois. 100,000 units of product are affected by this voluntary recall.

The First Years Newborn-to-Toddler Reclining Feeding Seats were sold at various retail stores all around the nation from November 2006 through October 2007. The feeding seats retailed at about $30 each.
