If you make your own Noah’s ark cake at home, frost it to look like waves of the ocean with c-shaped and e-shaped strokes or frosting tip shapes. Frost a rainbow over the sea. Frost a picture of an ark (doesn’t have to be fancy) and put animals in the “boat”. Alternatively, you can make a rainbow-shaped cake.
If you want to get a little fancier, buy two cake pans – one in an oval shape and a smaller one in a football shape that will serve as the bottom of the ark (frost this in brown of course). Bake these two cakes as normal and stack the football shape (ark) on top of the larger oval shape. Be sure to support the football shape with cardboard and wooden dowels.
Then from a chocolate chip cookie recipe, cut out two rectangular and two square-plus-a-peak walls for the ark house walls. Cut out two rectangular pieces of roof. Put together with icing and hold together until it sets. (This is similar to a gingerbread house.) Instead of assembling a chocolate chip recipe ark, you can also make an ark from cardboard, frost it, and put it on top of the cake with animals in or around it, as if they were boarding the ark.
You can also buy a personalized, edible Noah’s ark cake topper or ask your local bakery to make a Noah’s ark cake. If you prefer cupcakes, decorate two each to look like an animal.
