Every semester, I find myself gaining extra pounds. The stress of work and school takes its toll and I end up eating food with nearly no nutritional value and creating excuses like, “I’m too busy to eat well right now”. Well, my prayers were answered a month ago when my friends and I decided to begin a diet together. There are many fad diets floating around on the Internet, but few are quite as delicious and easy as the new Amy’s Kitchen Diet Plan. After considering many different diets, we settled on the Amy’s Kitchen Diet. We all loved the Amy’s Kitchen frozen dinners so we figured that it would be easy to stick with. The Amy’s Kitchen Diet is a mixture of eating the Amy’s frozen dinners along with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The fact that we were about to concentrate our diet on these frozen dinners meant that we could practice portion control, which meant more meals, leading to faster metabolism. It’s easier to lose weight when you have multiple small meals during the day instead of a few large ones. The small meals keep the metabolism moving so burning calories will be easier.

We each printed out a copy of the Amy’s Kitchen Diet shopping list and menu, all of which is available on the Amy’s Kitchen website, amys.com. The diet allows for a lot of substitution so we didn’t get stuck with eating a lot of what we didn’t like. My personal favorite meals were the Baked Ziti Bowl, Mexican Casserole Bowl, Roasted Vegetable Pizza, and Organic Alphabet Soup. Each meal is around 350 calories so they can be easily switched around while sticking with the diet.

After a week, we all weighed in and, on average lost around 2 pounds each. Like all diets, exercise plays a crucial role in weight loss and health. So walk, run, or bike daily, and stick with the diet. Exercising is not only good for your physical health, its great for your mental health. Being outdoors in nature can calm even the most stressed individual. Therefore, we did combine healthy eating with exercise. We all got Gold’s Gym Memberships and worked out everyday. Body Attack, Body Pump, and Yoga are my favorite classes. If you are looking in to trying a diet like this, try it! The Amy’s Kitchen Diet was so simple and delicious. We were never hungry, but even if you are, you don’t have to feel guilty about snacking!
