The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland: Elmo’s First Major Motion Picture!

Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Sesame Street

My daughter adores Elmo! Who could resist Sesame Street’s cuddliest character? I decided to buy her ‘The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland’ on VHS to keep her entertained. Elmo really works his magic in his first major motion picture role!

When you think of Elmo, you picture him on Sesame Street singing the alphabet or playing with his friends in Elmo’s World. ‘The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland’ shows Elmo in a whole new light as he travels through Oscar the Grouch’s famous trashcan and enters Grouchland in pursuit of his beloved blanket.

The picture quality is ten times better than in any Elmo televised shows. The lighting is great and there are a lot more scenes of Elmo and other Sesame Street characters showing their entire body. You can even see Telly roller blade, which is hilarious! The characters appear much more realistic. You expect Elmo to jump right into your living room.

‘The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland’ is 73 minutes long which is really convenient for parents who are accustomed to changing Elmo’s World tapes every thirty minutes or so. ‘The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland’ is also available on DVD. No rewinding, yay!

My daughter loves trying to sing along with all the silly songs Elmo and his Sesame Street friends belt out. She also has developed an even stronger attachment to her favorite blanket, holding it close every time she watches ‘The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland.’ I just hope Elmo hasn’t given her a blanket complex! Either way, she is just too adorable to watch when she starts dancing around and kissing her blanket whenever Elmo does the same on the screen.

The only complaint I have about ‘The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland’ is the fact that Elmo has a temper tantrum. Elmo screams “my blanket” and “I want it now” at Zoe, one of his best friends from Sesame Street, in the film. Elmo is a very influential role model to lots of kids, mine included. Don’t get me wrong, I love Elmo and all of the educational skills he possesses, but showing Elmo throwing a tantrum in the movie just isn’t the Elmo way.

Other than wanting to put Elmo in a time out for such naughty behavior, I really enjoyed ‘The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland’ and recommend this film to kids of all ages. I bought mine from eBay and got a great deal! I always search for merchandise on eBay before buying it new because I almost always find what I want much cheaper. If your kid’s need some Elmo in their world, and what child doesn’t, get the ‘The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland.’ Elmo is sure to tickle even the crankiest child’s funny bone!
