The 10 Saddest Love Songs to Help You Grieve

Aaliyah

Falling in love is one of the best feelings in the world. Unfortunately, break-ups and heartache are a part of most people’s journeys in finding the love of their lives. I have had my heart broken more than once, and I found these sad love songs helped me grieve the loss of the person I loved. I hope these songs help you grieve the way they helped me.

What Hurts the Most: “What Hurts the Most” by Rascal Flatts is a sad love song that talks about how the person in this song feels after losing someone he or she fell in love with.

This song means a lot to me because I have been in situations before where I have been in love and I haven’t told the person I’m in love with exactly how I feel and I regretted it later.

Don’t Speak: “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt is another sad love song that holds personal significance to me. I have had a couple of times in my life where I fell in love with my best friend and when we broke up, I felt as if I was losing my best friend in the world. The lyrics of the song include these lines: “You and me, we used to be together, everyday together always, I really feel, that I’m losing my best friend.”

Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word: “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word” by Elton John is a sad love song I believe touches many people’s hearts. This song particularly has meaning to me because I have had at least one situation in which I had a boyfriend break-up with me and I wasn’t sure what I had done or if I had done anything to cause the break-up.

We Belong Together: “We Belong Together” is a sad love song by Mariah Carey. This song holds personal significance for me; when someone I loved dearly broke my heart, I felt the way the person in this song feels – alone, sad, and angry with myself. This song expresses how it feels to have your heart broken, and it’s a great song that helped me through my grieving process.

Don’t Forget About Us: “Don’t Forget About Us” is a sad love song by Mariah Carey that talks about how it feels to lose true love. This song also helps those who are going through break-ups grieve their losses.

My Boo: “My Boo” by Usher, featuring Alicia Keys holds personal meaning to me because I had a boyfriend I used to call my boo. This song really touched my heart.

“My Boo” talks about how each person in the couple feels after they had broken up, which makes this song truly unique.

Miss You: “Miss You” by Aaliyah is another sad love song that holds personal significance for me. This song talks about how one person in the couple left for college, leaving his or her friend and lover behind: “Off to college, yes you went away, straight from high school, you up and left me, we were close friends, and lovers.” This song holds personal meaning for me because I had a boyfriend in high school who left for college, and our relationship fell apart shortly afterwards.

I Will Always Love You: “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Huston holds personal significance for me because I have had a relationship with someone I loved very dearly, but I knew it would not have been the best thing to stay in that relationship, so I let him go. I continue to love this man, and he continues to remain a good friend in my life.
