There are over twenty splash pads around Tulsa, Oklahoma and they are all open from May 25th until the end of August, usually Labor Day weekend. The splash pads are open most park hours, the curfew for Tulsa area parks is 10 p.m. Where are the Splash Pads? Almost everyone knows of the three main splash parks: Mohawk Park, Helmerich Park, and Hunter Park.
Pielsticker Park is located on 36th Street North between Sherdian Road and Memorial Drive, inside Mohawk Park, there is a parking fee of two dollars per car if you are not a Zoo Friends member or Friends of Oxley Membership. The park is located to the East of the Zoo Entrance inside the main park area there is a dry park with rock climbing wall in addition to the splash pad, plus a water fountain and restrooms close by. Helmerich Park is located on Riverside Drive Between 71st and 81st Streets, there is a large dry play area in addition to the splash pad with swings, large themed toys, and there are on site restrooms. Hunter Park is located just off of 91st Street between Sherdian and Yale. This park has a large dry play ground, restrooms, ponds, and Frisbee golf all in addition to the splash park. This is only three, there are over twenty. Here is a break down by region of town.
North Tulsa
I will define North Tulsa with the South Boundary being Admiral Place, the north border being East 76th Street North, the west border being North Gilcrease Museum Road, and finally the East border being Garnett Road.
Archer Park is located on Archer Street four blocks west of Harvard Avenue. This park has a dry playground, restrooms, swimming pool, shelter with picnic tables, and the splash pad. Cheyenne Playground has dry playground, picnic tables, restrooms, basketball court, and the splash pad. This park is located one block north of Pine Street on Main Street, near downtown. Crutchfield Park is located on independence street one block east of Peoria Avenue, North of Highway 244/412. This park has picnic tables, basketball court, and a dry playground in addition to the splash park area. Dawson Park is located on Kingston Place between Virgin Street and Pine street about 5 blocks west of Sherdian. This park has a dry playground, a sports field, and shelter with picnic tables in addition to the splash park. Lacy Park is located near the corner of Peoria Avenue and Virgin Street, about one block north of Virgin Street on Madison Avenue. Lacy Park a regular playground, community center, tennis court, indoor gym, swimming pool and restrooms in addition to the splash pad. Springdale Park is just west of the corner of East Pine Street and Lewis Avenue, accessible from North Zunis Avenue. Springdale Park has a regular playground with swings, sports field, swimming pool, and a recreation center with restrooms plus the splash pad. Wheeling Park is located just north of Virgin Street on North Wheeling Avenue. Here you can picnic and play until the kids are warm enough for the splash park. Finally Vining Park is located on North Cincinnati Avenue just south of 66th Street North. Vining Park park is a cozy park with six acres to roam, with a dry playground in addition to the splash pad.
West Tulsa
West Tulsa will be defined as the area from Admiral Place to Bixby and from Riverside Drive west to Sand Springs.
Carbondale Park is located on the corner of West 48th Street South and South 28th West Avenue, in the neighborhood between South 25th West Avenue and West 51st Street South. This park has a dry playground, tennis court, basket ball, and a shelter with picnic tables in addition to the splash pad. Johnson Park is located on Riverside Drive just off of the Creek Turnpike between 101 Street South and Delaware Avenue. This park features a dry playground, community shelter, sports field, and picnic tables with shelter in addition to the sprinklers. Owen Park is located just off of the Sand Springs Expressway (aka 412), on West Edison Street. This park has tons of features including a standard playground, community center, fishing, sand volley ball, and much more plus the sprinkler playground.
Penney Park is located nearly on the corner of Charles Page Boulevard and South 42st West Avenue, easily accessible from highway 51 (Sand Springs Expressway). This park has a tennis court, standard playground with swings, sheltered picnic tables with grill, and basketball court, and yes all in addition to the sprinkler playground. Reed Park is located on the large corner of West 41st Street South and South Union Avenue West. This park has tons of extra amenities including a standard play area with LOTS of swings, swimming pool with slides, a community center and picnic tables in addition to the sprinkler park.
Schlegel Park is located on the block of South 38th West Avenue and West 53rs Place South which is just under two miles from highway 44 and about two miles from South 33rd West Avenue. This park features a regular playground, picnic tables, basketball court, and a sports field, and of course the splash pad. Finally Zeigler Park is located on the corner of South 41st West Avenue and West 4th Street South. Zeigler Park has many amenities including a community center, swimming pool, sports fields, standard playground, and restrooms, plus the sprinkler park.
South Tulsa
South Tulsa will be defined as the area from Admiral Place to Bixby and from Riverside Drive to Garnett Road.
Braden Park is located in the neighborhood with the cross streets of East 11th Street South and South Yale Avenue’ on 9th Street south. Braden Park is the place to have fun all day with duck ponds, shelters with picnic tables, grills, restrooms and a regular play area and swings plus the splash park. Florence Park is located in the neighborhood behind East 21st Street South and South Harvard Avenue on Gary Avenue between 21st Street South and 19th Street South. This park has a large playground, covered picnic area, and tennis courts in addition the sprinkler pad. Highland Park is located on the corner of East 36th Street South and South Yale Avenue. This park has a variety of picnic areas, tennis courses, a large playground and more that families can enjoy while visiting the splash pad. Maple Park is located near down town between South Madison Avenue and South Cincinnati Place on East 15th Street South. Maple Park is another great place to have a picnic with lots of shady trees and picnic tables, also there is a big toy for the kids with swings nearby, the kids can warm up at the playground before hitting the sprinklers.
Tracy Park is located on the corner of East 11th Street South and South Peoria Avenue. This park has a beautiful fountain, lots of colorful flowers, and the playground is right next to the sprinkler park. Veterans Park fills the large block between West 21st Street South and East 18th Street West with the cross street of South Boulder Drive. This park has various sports fields, picnic areas, and both a playground and a splash pad. Kendall-Whittier Park can be accessed From South Lewis Avenue by taking East 5th Place South to the corner of East 5th Place South and South Columbia Avenue South. This park has restrooms, sheltered picnic areas with grills, and a regular playground with a tire swing to play on plus the sprinkler pool. Finally Zink Park can be seen from the corner of East 31st Street South and South Trenton Avenue, which is just to the east of the intersection of East 31st Street South and South Peoria Avenue. This park also has restrooms and picnic tables and both a regular playground and a spray pad.
