When you are in Southern Connecticut you can spend the day on Harvey’s Beach in Old Saybrook, off of route 154. Visiting Harvey’s Beach in Old Saybrook will not be complete without a picnic lunch or dinner. Make sure that you bring all that you will need and enjoy a picnic on the shores of CT. Remember that the beach can get pretty full during the hot, summer days, so either plan on arriving at the beach very early or not until later in the afternoon. Late afternoon is a good time to arrive because most people are leaving and heading home for dinner. The beach is a lot less crowded then. Either way, you will be sure to get a parking spot and a good place on the beach if you plan on arriving early or late. If you have to park far away, you might want to consider bringing a wagon to put all of your beach gear into so that you can just pull it along. It really helps a lot.
Do take a walk along the shore and search for seashells. Be sure you bring a container to put your shells in so that they don’t get broken. Plan on finding quite a few.
