Kellogg’s first debuted Special K Cereal all the way back in 1956, but of late the Special K lineup has gotten a completely revamp. There are now seven different kinds of Special K cereal, as well as numerous snack and drink options. I personally have found many of the Special K products to be very tasty and wanted to see if Kellogg’s Special K Vanilla Almond Cereal would pass the taste test to be a viable breakfast option.
Special K Vanilla Almond: Taste-
This cereal tastes absolutely amazing. I know that sounds crazy, but the cereal is just plain excellent. The blend of rice and wheat flakes as well as vanilla covered almonds hit the spot as soon as I tried it. The almonds also have a honey coating which adds another great flavor to the bowl of cereal. The cereal tastes just sweet enough to be very tasty, but not so sweet to where it wouldn’t be healthy for you.
Compared to the average cereal on the market, Special K Vanilla Almond is a very healthy cereal. Kellogg has done a good job making the entire Special K lineup quite healthy, and this cereal is no exception. A serving size is 3/4 cup and the box has about 13 serving sizes. In one serving size there are only 9 grams of sugar and just 1.5 grams of fat (0 grams of saturated fat). The cereal has 2 grams of protein in each serving size and about a third of your average intake of many of the essential Vitamins such as Vitamin C, B6, and B12. This cereal passes the nutrition test with flying colors!
The price of Special K cereal’s have been rising quite a lot lately, as have the prices of almost every cereal. The price of rice and wheat is getting a lot more expensive, so cereal prices are going up. Special K generally costs somewhere between $3 and $3.50 when it’s not on sale, which is still not nearly as much as some other brands. I regularly see this cereal on sale for $2.50 a box, which is a great deal! Keep a close eye on your local grocer’s weekly advertisement, because this cereal does go on sale quite often.
Special K Vanilla Almond: Overall Grade
I give this cereal a 10/10 all the way around. This is a great mixture of a healthy cereal that is also absolutely delicious. I find it hard to find many cereals that taste as good as this one, and if they do they generally are full of sugar and fat. You don’t get cheated on the amount of almonds in this cereal either, there are plenty to accentuate the taste of the cereal. Since I first tried this cereal I have become completely addicted. I generally have this cereal for breakfast at least 4 or 5 days a week. Yes, it is that good!
