SK-II Skincare Products: The Japanese Promise to Radiant Skin

Skincare Products

After conducting a little research on skincare products, I discovered the SK-II line that holds great promise for women looking to enhance their skin’s radiance and youthfulness. Proctor and Gamble’s high-end line of SK-II skincare products are based on the Japanese discovery of Pitera as a skin renewal product. Pitera is listed as the secret ingredient in all SK-II skin care products. The makers of SK-II claim that the products cause the skin to have a miraculous rebirth to a new and glowing complexion for anyone who uses the product. The official SK-II website lists this process of skin renewal as a result of the special blend of vitamins, amino acids, organic acids, and proteins that can only be found in the SK-II products.

I was curious to see what products were recommended for my skin as a young, 20-something woman so I went through the Personal Consultation link on the SK-II website to find out exactly what I needed to look for in SK-II products. According to the results of the survey, I need to focus on facial treatments such as the Clear Lotion and Essence. I would agree that the summary given by the Personal Consultation was accurate in the suggestions it gave. My current skincare products leave residual impurities that the Clear Lotion claims to prevent. The Essence product that was suggested by the Personal Consultation has the highest concentration of Pitera of all the skincare products produced under the SK-II line, 90% pure Pitera. The product claims to leave skin radiant and supple. Every woman I know wants radiant, supple skin.

After agreeing that the first part of the consultation was accurate to my needs, I decided to continue on to the second phase. I was again directed to the Clear Lotion, but this time I was also directed to the Skin Refining Treatment. This product claims to soften and lift away dead skin cells that cause skin to loose its radiance. Suggested use for this product is as a night cream that is occasionally used during the day for an extra-radiant complexion. This skin-renewing product claims to reveal the user’s natural radiance and vitality. I feel like both parts of the Personal Consultation were accurate to my skincare needs.

The ritual suggested for the SK-II line was very interesting to me because it uses the visualization process to deem what one’s skin will look like after using the product. The steps listed on the SK-II ritual guide are as follows: visualize, purify, renew, and enhance. I know of no other skincare line that encourages users to visualize what the product will do for their skin each time the product is used. I found this process to be very intriguing because it reminded me of something I was taught in a college yoga class. Our instructor repeatedly encouraged us to use visualization to help us see our bodies becoming stronger and healthier while we were performing and holding poses. After several weeks of using the visualization techniques in class, I noticed that my body was stronger and healthier than it had ever been. Since that class, I have always thought visualization to be a key part to any change in one’s life.

As I continued to browse the SK-II site, I started to think that maybe these products were for me. I chose the Store Locator option from the menu and was immediately disheartened that the only stores carrying the SK-II line were literally hundreds of miles away from me. The Saks online store does sell the SK-II line, including facial whitening masks and foundations made by SK-II; however, I was not able to locate two of the products that the Personal Consultation recommended for my skin. I hope that someday in the future either a store near my home or the Saks website will carry the products that looked so perfect for my skin.
