Sara Lee Carrot Cake Review

Cake Recipes, Carrot Cake, Layer Cake, Sara Lee

Sara Lee’s Carrot Cake is a great dessert snack when you want something sweet or when you children want an after-school snack. It reminds me of my favorite carrot cake recipe with cinnamon and a touch of cocoa! It’s a perfect quick fall dessert.

As long as you watch your portion size, the Sara Lee Carrot Cake is one of the best snack cakes-chock-full of walnuts, real pineapple, carrots and topped with a white, cream cheese frosting. I love the fact that they don’t put on an inch of frosting, but just a nice thin layer of creamy, velvety icing.

Other cakes I recommend include:

Ice cream cake: Dairy Queen’s Reese’s Blizzard cake.

Gluten free cake: Amy’s gluten free chocolate cake.

If you have no concern about sugar, fat or calories, pair the carrot cake with Ben & Jerry’s Dulce Delish or another favorite ice cream.

Here are a few things I learned about Sara Lee’s Carrot Cake, a quick fall dessert favorite:

No. 1: Why Sara Lee has one of the best Carrot Cake recipes for a frozen convenience cake: Sara Lee’s carrot cake has 340 calories for a serving size that is 1/6 of the cake. I recommend cutting smaller pieces for fewer calories. It has 18 grams of fat in a serving, but half a serving is 9 grams, which is fine for a moderate-fat diet.

No. 2: Why Sara Lee has one of the best Carrot Cake recipe for a frozen convenience cake: Sara Lee’s carrot cake has 1 gram of fiber, 28 grams of sugar, 4 grams of protein. It has 20 percent of the recommended Vitamin A, 8 percent iron and 4 percent calcium.

No. 3: Why Sara Lee has one of the best Carrot Cake recipes for a frozen convenience cake: It’s easy to serve the cake. Simply thaw for an hour or two. It keeps well in the refrigerator. It’s also easy to take only one piece at a time and return to the freezer because of the convenient tin and lid.

No. 4: Other Sara Lee desserts include the double chocolate layer cake, fudge golden layer cake, coconut cake, banana cake, German chocolate layer cake and strawberry shortcake.

No. 5: Some of the allergens listed for the Sara Lee carrot cake include wheat, eggs, walnuts, pecans and soy.

My rating for the Sara Lee carrot cake for taste is 5 out of 5 and 2.5 out of 5 for nutrition. The sugar content is extremely high, which is why I highly recommend having only half a serving. But, compare the Sara Lee carrot cake to a piece of carrot cake in many restaurants and you are saving probably a thousand calories!
