Review of Low-Calorie Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix Sports Drink

Gatorade, Vitamin B6

I tried the low-calorie Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix by accident. Recently the local Wal-mart had raised their regularly low prices on bottles of Propel Fitness water to match those of the local grocery store. Instead of purchasing the normal six-pack or 12-pack of Propel Fitness water, I opted instead for a box of individual packets of Gatorade’s Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix.

I was apprehensive at first, because low-calorie powdered drinks do not normally match the flavor of pre-made beverages. I was happy that the Gatorade’s Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix matched the pre-made beverage flavor so well.

Low-Calorie Drinks, Propel and Artificial Sweeteners

The one beverage that I like to drink which contains artificial sweeteners is Propel. Normally I try to avoid certain artificial sweeteners.

This low-calorie sports drink contains both sucralose and acesulfame potassium, in addition to regular sugar, or sucrose.

Sports Water with a Vitamin B Boost

Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix gives you a Vitamin B boost. It contains 25 of the Percent Daily Value* of Vitamin B6 and four percent of the PDV of Vitamin B12. It also contains 25 of the PDV of Niacin (B3). Plus it has 25 of the PDV of Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B6). Vitamin B is important for metabolism support and maintaining muscle.

Women who suffer from PMS are sometimes advised to increase their intake of “B” vitamins because of their ability to decrease stress as well as depression.

*Percent Daily Value is based on a standard 2,000 calorie diet. The percentage of vitamins you are consuming will be based on your personal overall caloric intake.

One serving of Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix (half a packet) is 10 calories. There is no fat of any kind in the is sport water. There are 30mg of sodium. Even the carbohydrates are low, at 3 grams of carbohydrate per serving. Two of those three grams are in the form of sugars. How Well Does It Mix?

Time for the true test of the low-calorie Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix. When the powder sport drink mix is first poured into a bottle of water, it looks grainy and powdery. Within minutes the water turns completely clear, and looks like a regular bottle of water.

It does not take much to completely dissolve the Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix, just a few gentle shakes of the bottle. There was no powder residue on the inside of the bottle or on the bottom.

Taste of the Low-Calorie Sports Water

No matter how much I love the taste of plain, old water, when I am exercising, or after exercise I need some flavor in my water. The best product I have found that hydrates me and gives me flavor at the same time is Propel.

Available Flavors

The low-calorie Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix by Gatorade comes in the following flavors: Berry,Grape, Kiwi-Strawberry, and Lemon. The availability of flavors may be limited where you shop. The local Wal-mart, for example, only carries the grape.

Gatorade does not yet make a Melon Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix, but they should.

Availability

Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix is available in box of 10. The low-calorie sports water product can be found in the powdered drink aisle at local grocery stores and in Wal-mart. Convenience stores are allowed to sell individual packets.

Price

One box of Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix cost $2.50 at Wal-mart, although Gatorade’s suggested retail price is $3.49. The higher price may be more in line with the price at your local grocery store.

The cost of the powdered version is cheaper than the pre-made mix. It also produces less waste, if you re-used your own sterilized water bottles or drink the sports drink from a cup.

Convenience

It is very convenient to bring along a tiny packet of Propel to stir into any water you have. The box is even small enough to keep in a gym bag, or in your car, if you tend to venture out on spontaneous walks or outdoor adventures.

Customized

The other advantage to the low-calorie Propel Fit Powder Water Beverage Mix is that you can control the sweetness of the sports drink. I like put in one third less of the recommended amount. I find that I still get flavor and a Vitamin boost, but I can make it taste even less sweet.

Overall

Overall I highly recommend this powdered sports drink, which matches the original pre-made sports drink on every level.
