Review of Lands’ End Oxford Dress Shirts

Dress Shirts, Land's End

I have covered pretty much all the bases when it comes to purchasing a good oxford dress shirt for work. I have bought dress clothes rated at the generic level all the way up to Ralph Lauren Polo brand. Overall I have usually purchased shirts between the twenty five to fifty dollar ranges. I pretty much shop for a cotton/polyester blend that will stand up well to repeated use and not wear away too quickly. I usually shop for such shirts at Kohl’s, Carson Pirie Scott, Von Maur, and Lands End.

Purchasing a shirt from Land’s end is pretty simple as I can either go on the website or peruse a catalogue to pick my desired color and style of shirt. I already know my dimensions so there is no need for having to get measured. The best part about shopping with Land’s End is that I do not have to leave the house when buying their clothes. I usually make my purchases online with simple click shopping and charging the order to my credit card. If online order scares people, there is always the option to mail order or order by phone. I do like the online shopping as I will receive weekly specials e-mailed to my address.

Customer Service

While I enjoy the comfort and look of the land’s end oxford, I will say that the quality gets mixed reviews. I have had some shirts hold up for over two years, while others have started to have the fabric pull apart after six or seven uses and dry cleanings. This happened with two out of ten shirts that I had purchased from the mail order company. In both situations I phoned the Lands End customer service rep and I was greeted in a friendly and courteous manner. I simply told the rep about the poor quality of the shirt and I was told to send the shirt to the manufacturer. I was then issued a new shirt by the company within a few weeks. The only thing I had to pay was the cost of sending the shirt first class mail. I wasn’t happy about the two shirts eventually falling apart, but I was very impressed with the treatment I received by their service team. The replacement shirts did hold up and I still wear them to this day.

Price

I would rank the price of Lands End Shirts as being very favorable to the competition. One can expect to pay much more for a shirt from Von Maur, or most other department stores. The price does get hiked up a bit when purchasing online and having to pay for shipping and handling costs.

Quality

I would rank the shirts as being average when it comes to quality. Every shirt coming off the assembly line should be top quality before being sent to the customer. I feel I have received a few duds in the past, though thankfully Land’s End did honor free replacements that did manage to stay together.
