Review: Dr. Scholl’s Wart Removal Products

Band Aids, Dr. Scholls, Wart Removal

About three months ago I ignored the fact that I had a wart on my finger. I had never had a wart before and didn’t realize it was a wart until too late! This common wart was beginning to grow, and I could no longer ignore, or deny – the fact that I had a wart on my finger that I needed to get rid of after a trip to the nail salon and the recognition that it was indeed a common wart.

I have tried each of these products and finally it has gone away, but I am going to outline which of these products worked well, and which products did not. These have been my experiences:

Dr. Scholl’s Freeze Away Wart Remover

This seemed to be the easiest solution to the problem, and as the most expensive I had expected the best results from the system. I was disappointed when after 20 applications – it did not seem to be working in the least amount.

There was pain, and on one occasion – my partner had frozen the skin around the wart and this was terribly painful. At least, it would have worked I thought, but in no case was it effective at all.

This product was almost a dollar per application. At twenty dollars a package, I had high hopes for the product to work.

Dr. Scholl’s Clear Away One Step Salicylic Acid Wart Remover

This seemed to work well, but the smell was horrendous and the effects on my finger were awful! It caused this white crust to form on my finger, which was awful to get rid of. In one instance I had to file off the top, and was unable to get rid of the bottom of the wart.

At the pharmacists recommendation this was the one that was said to be most effective, although it may take longer. At the price of less than five dollars, it was cheap – and I secretly hoped that it would work, for the cheap price.

Dr. Scholl’s Clear Away Wart Remover System

I hadn’t read the instructions before I used this, and used the adhesive band-aids instead of the medicated discs that had been included in the package. In a package of 18 discs, this was the second least expensive, but worked the best. In this package, there were the 18 discs, included with band-aids to cover these discs. There was 40% salicylic acid in the medicated discs, ready to use and apply. It was about $10 for the box, and lasted a little more than two weeks, using it once per day.

After using the discs as prescribed it only took about two weeks for the wart to scab and fall off, as the pharmacist said that it would.

As directed, I used the product at night for two weeks, because I did not want it on my finger during the day. After a couple of weeks, the top of the wart seemed to come off and the skin appeared to be growing and healing underneath and was close to being wart-free once again!

Of the three products, the clear away system with the medicated discs seemed to work the best and was the least painful of the three.

These products are rated in the order of which I have used them. It may have been the fact that I used an abundance of product, or the fact that in tandem the products worked well, but it took over eight weeks to rid myself of this pesky wart – and my recommendations come well tried out, but it is finally gone!
