Nordstrom offers on-site alterations at all of its department stores, and most basic alterations services are free. Some of the more complex alterations such as taking in or letting out a non-segmented waist, tapering the whole leg of pants, or shortening contour straps on a dress or skirt may cost you about $20 or more depending on the type of work performed, but you can still enjoy great service and professional work. Saks Fifth Avenue stores typically do not charge a single dollar for customers who purchased regular-priced merchandise at their stores. Saks Fifth Avenue will charge a few dollars for clothing that was purchased at their store on sale, and will charge you full price for clothing that was not purchased at a Saks store.
