ReliOn Cool Mist Humidifier VS. Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier

Humidifiers, Vicks

Humidifiers can provide many health benefits, such as preventing nosebleeds, dry skin, sinus problems, and can even inhibit the growth of certain molds. Furthermore, it’s good for your house too. When the air gets too dry, paint can crack and furniture can warp. But what is the best kind to get? Everyone is familiar with setting a humidifier up at night, only to find that it leaves the area around it soaking wet by morning. And having too much moisture in the air can be just as harmful as not having enough. This comparison between the ReliOn Cool Mist Humidifier and the Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier will help you determine which one is the best idea for your family.

The Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier has a well-known brand name associated with it, which makes you feel confident that you are getting a good quality product. Although it sprays a very fine mist, it is one that will leave your sheets wet if it is set near your bed, and any surface it’s placed upon should be protected. Also, it has a very large lid that is somewhat difficult to remove. This is significant because that’s how you put more water in. It does have a filter, and it works quite well at removing minerals in the water so they are not sprayed into the air or your lungs. Overall, it functions like any other cool mist humidifier, although it has a slightly finer spray than most.

The ReliOn Cool Mist Humidifier is a brand that is only sold in Walmart stores, and although there are Walmart stores throughout the United States, many people may be turned off by buying what is essentially a store brand. But this worry is unfounded. The ReliOn Cool Mist Humidifier outperformed the Vicks humidifier on almost every feature. The top portion of the humidifier comes away from the base, and has a built-in handle to make it easy to carry. A circular part unscrews from the bottom, and this is where you put the water. It’s very easy to fill and screw the top back on, as opposed to removing the top and carrying the entire base. The mist that comes from the humidifier is much finer, and even after leaving your hand in front of the water output area for one minute, your hand will not feel the least bit wet. Furthermore, the mist is fine enough that even after using the humidifier next to your bed the entire night, your sheets will remain dry. One major downside is that the furniture it sits on should have some sort of towel underneath it, because water comes out of the back of the machine fairly easily. It is mostly stopped by the filter, but if the machine is bumped, it will spill out the back. As I mentioned, the ReliOn does have a filter which removes any minerals or impurities from the water, but unlike the Vicks humidifier, it is not easily cleaned, and instead must be replaced.

I prefer the ReliOn Cool Mist Humidifier because of the fine mist it outputs. It is pleasant to go to bed with the air feeling less dry, but without getting water sprayed on my face all night. My husband was skeptical about the fineness of the spray, but he tried it one night and was impressed by how well it worked. There is not much difference in cost between the two humidifiers, and for the ease of use alone, any slight increase in price is certainly worth it. The price of additional filters is somewhat of a detraction from it, but not enough to make the other a better buy. If I had a family member that was searching for a new humidifier, I would recommend the ReliOn Cool Mist Humidifier over the Vicks humidifier.
