Quick Mardi Gras Drink Ideas for Kids

Carbonated, Grape Juice, Sparkling Water, Tonic Water

During the Mardi Gras season, obviously children are unable to drink alcoholic drinks as the adults can. However, there are other things that they can drink in celebration of Mardi Gras. Here are some ideas of what kind of drinks you can make for the kids and how to make them.

Drink #1: Atomic Cat Mardi-Gras Style: This is a non-alcoholic drink that is usually made with orange juice, but this is not how we are going to make it for the Mardi-Gras season. The ingredients that you will need are grape juice, tonic water, and ice cubes. That’s it! The reason I say to use grape juice instead of orange juice is because the Mardi Gras colors are purple, green, and gold. So, if you use grape juice, the drink will be the color of one of the Mardi Gras colors.

To make the drink, here is what you have to do. Grab a pitcher and pour the grape juice about three quarters of the way to the top. Then, pour in the tonic water the rest of the way. Tonic water is similar to carbonated water but is a bit more bitter. Serve in tall glasses. Before you pour the drink in the cup, fill it up almost entirely with shredded ice.

Drink #2: Fruit Flip-Flop: This is a really simple drink to make and children will love it. Plus, it’s really good for you. This is a non-alcoholic drink made of yogurt and fruit juice. All you have to do is to take one yogurt per glass and any type of fruit juice and dump it into a blender. Then, set the blender to medium and blend for a few minutes. Then, you can immediately serve it. I would recommend using apple juice, peach juice, or grape juice because they are all Mardi Gras colors. It would be best to just use a white-colored yogurt. This will make a very large drink so you can cut up the portions a bit if you think the child cannot drink it all.

Drink #3: Fizzy Lemonade Mardi-Gras Style: This one is a bit more complicated, but not by much. The ingredients that you will need are: juice from one lemon, 2 tsp. powdered sugar, Lemon Slice, Sparkling Water, a lime slice, and either gold, green, or purple food coloring.

To make the drink, mix together the lemon juice and the sugar. Then, you can add the sparkling water and the ice. Lastly, put a little bit of food coloring in the drink in order to make it one of the Mardi Gras colors. If you would like, you can put the lemon and the lime slice on the cup to make it look more decorative.

Drink #4: Virgin Shirley Temple: This drink is a great drink for any occasion, especially holidays. So, it is the perfect drink to serve to kids for the Mardi Gras Holiday. The ingredients that you will need per glass are: 1 tsp. grenadine, 3 oz. ginger-ale, and 3 oz. lemon lime soda.

It is pretty simple to make this drink. All you have to do is fill each glass almost completely with ice, then mix all the ingredients together and pour it in!

Drink #5: May Blossom Fizz: This drink is relatively simple as well and is completely non-alcoholic and perfect for children. The ingredients that you will need are: 1 tsp. grenadine, juice of 1/2 of a lemon, 2 oz. Swedish punch, and carbonated water. To make this drink, combine all the ingredients leaving the carbonated water aside for now. Make sure you combine the ice in it as well. Then, put it into a tall glass and add the carbonated water. If you want, you can even add some food coloring like with one of the other drinks I mentioned so it can be one of the colors of Mardi Gras.
