Product Review: Snapple Red Teas

Green Teas, Red Tea, Rooibos, Snapple

Snapple Red Teas is one of the newest lines of Snapple Teas. The Snapple Red Tea product line offers up a bit stronger taste than their other low calorie teas, such as the Snapple Green Teas and the Snapple White Teas. Like the Snapple Green Tea product line, the Snapple Red Tea product line provides powerful antioxidants to the drinker. The Snapple Red Tea product line offers up real brewed and naturally caffeine free red tea. Unlike any other bottled tea product currently available for purchase, the Snapple Red Tea product line is made using a rare antioxidant rich tea known as ‘rooibos,’ which can only be found in the Western Cape region of South Africa. To enhance the brewed flavor of the rooibos, the Snapple Red Tea product line also features real fruit juice, which adds a healthy dose of vitamin C to the already antioxidant rich beverage. Snapple’s Red Tea product line is available in grocery stores. The average price of a bottle of Snapple’s Red Tea is around $1.39 per bottle.

Snapple’s Green Tea product line features three very different varieties of Snapple Red Tea. The available flavors are: Acai Mixed Berry, Mandarin Tangerine and Peach Pomegranate. Much like the Snapple Green Tea product line, the Snapple Red Tea product line has considerably less calories per serving than their traditional product line. The Snapple Red Tea product line only lists filtered water, crystalline fructose, pear juice concentrate, natural flavors, rooibos, citric acid, green tea and vitamin C as its ingredients. The Snapple Red Tea product line actually has fewer calories per serving than both the Snapple Green Tea product line and the Snapple White Tea product line.

The Acai Mixed Berry flavor in the Snapple Red Tea product line is my least favorite of the red teas. While all of the Snapple Red Tea’s have a stronger taste than the Snapple White Teas and Snapple Green Teas, the Acai Mixed Berry Snapple Red Tea has the absolute strongest flavor. It is incredibly stout, so much so that it does not even seem to be that sweet tasting. It seems that mixed berry flavoring and red tea flavoring do not mix well, as this drink is actually rather bad tasting in my opinion.

The Mandarin Tangerine flavored Snapple Red Tea product has a much better flavor than the Acai Mixed Berry Red Tea, but it is not my favorite in this product line. It seems to have a lighter flavor than the Acai Mixed Berry, however it is still a lot stronger tasting that the Snapple Green and White Teas. It seems to be just sweet enough without having an overpowering sugary flavor to it.

The Peach Pomegranate Snapple Red Tea is my favorite in the Snapple Red Tea product line. It has the signature robust flavor of the Snapple Red Tea product line, while having a pleasant pomegranate taste to it. It is neither too sweet nor too stout tasting. Yet, I find that give a choice; I would rather drink the Nectarine Snapple White Tea product or the Mango Snapple Green Tea product.

The Snapple Red Tea product line is extremely hard to find in my area, with only one chain grocery store stocking it. The flavor of the Snapple Red Tea product line is not at all what I was expecting as it is extremely strong. Imagine a cup of real strong brewed iced tea, and then multiply it by 20 and you might be close to the stoutness of the Snapple Red Tea product line. While the fact that it has the lowest calories per serving of any of the non-diet Snapple Tea products is appealing, the taste is too strong for my liking. Given a choice, I would rather drink from one of Snapple’s other product lines like the Green Teas or White Teas.
