There’s no doubt that most kids love Mother’s Day. When they’re little, they might not know why they appreciate their moms so much – they just know it’s fun. It’s enjoyable to make special foods for Mom, decorate, go shopping for a gift – it’s all a fabulous time. As kids get a bit older they start to be aware of just how valuable and loving Mom is. For that reason, many kids go all-out on Mother’s Day. The problem with that is, most kids don’t have the funds to go all-out like they wish they could. Instead, they do what they can to impress their moms and let her know how much she is loved.

It’s not necessary to have a lot of money to make great decorations for Mother’s Day. One cheap thing you can use to make really cool decorations is pipe cleaners. They come in so many colors that it’s easy to find shades your mom would like. Twist and turn them into words for the occasion.

Start any word you want to make for the wall banner by just bending the first pipe cleaner to create the first letter of the word. With small words you might be able to make the letter from one pipe cleaner. If you want to make a large banner it’s probably going to take more than one. Just go to the end of the first pipe cleaner, and when needed, twist on the next one. Continue forming the letter, adding another pipe cleaner on each time you need another. Be sure to wrap the next pipe cleaner at least a couple of inches onto the previous one.

There are no limits to the things you can write on the wall banner. Spell out “Happy Mother’s Day”, “Mom Means Love”, “I Love You” or another sentiment. Use all the same colors of pipe cleaners or twist on a different color each time you need one. You can even buy metallic pipe cleaners that sparkle with gold or silver to make the words.

Write the words in cursive or print. You’ll find that, here and there, it’s necessary to apply a dot of hot glue to keep certain parts of some letters in place. When the whole word or phrase is finished simply tape it to a wall or other area in the home.
