Five Craft Uses of Pipe Cleaners

Napkin Rings, Paper Flowers, Pipe Cleaners

Pipe cleaners are a big thing for arts and crafts. They’re soft, bendable, and easy to cut, glue, and use in various projects. A lot of arts and craft projects list pipe cleaners in their materials list. A lot of children and adults use them when participating in an arts and craft activity, ranging from animal crafts to jewelry, and more!

Here are five craft uses of pipe cleaners, to help give you ideas on the various pipe cleaner crafts you can plan and do. You can do these crafts by yourself or with others. All of these crafts are pretty easy for just about anyone to do!

Paper Flowers.
You can use pipe cleaners to act as the flower stems of the paper flowers. You just cut some tissue paper into the shape of a circle and fold the tip of the pipe cleaner. Using the other end of the pipe cleaner, poke a hole through the middle of the tissue paper and pull it up to the tip of the pipe cleaner (where it is folded). Repeat for one or two more sheets of tissue paper and slightly crumple them once they are on the pipe cleaner. Great for gifts, paper gardens, and just for a fun time of arts and crafts!

Animal Crafts.
You can find a few different uses for pipe cleaners when participating in animal crafts. You can bend and twist them together to make the bodies of the animals. Or you can cut and glue them to other craft pieces (such as cotton balls and paper plates) to make various animal body parts. You can use the pipe cleaners as arms, legs, tails, and ears.

Jewelry.
If you want to use pipe cleaners as jewelry, then you can do just that! Slip a few beads and charms onto the pipe cleaners and twist the ends together when you or your children are wearing them. You can cut them down to make them shorter or twist more than one together to make them longer.

Napkin Rings.
You can slip a few beads or charms onto the pipe cleaners or use the pipe cleaners only as napkin rings. Wrap them around the napkins and either wrap them around more than once. You can also trim them down and twist the ends together. You can slip them on and off of the napkin rings or twist/bend and untwist/unbend them to use and remove them.

Pipe Cleaner Glasses.
To make glasses out of pipe cleaners, take two pieces of pipe cleaners and bend them both into a circle. If you need them to be bigger, then simply take four pipe cleaners and twist the ends of two together. They will act as the lenses. Then, cut a small piece of the pipe cleaner off, and twist is around the sides of the lenses, to connect them together. Then, use one or more pieces on each side (twist the ends together to make them longer). Take one end and twist it around the lenses, and bend the other ends to act as the ear pieces.

There you go, five craft uses of pipe cleaners. This is great for planning out ideas for arts and crafts time, finding something to do with children (or just by yourself), or working a particular craft. You can work on one type of craft or all five in a few hours.
