Pampers Baby Dry Diapers VS. Huggies Natural Fit Diapers

Generic Diapers, Huggies, Pampers, Sensitive Baby Skin

Pampers Baby Dry and Huggies Natural Fit diapers are likely the most popular diapers. Let’s take a look at how they compare. Being that I have six children and have cared for countless others, I have had many experiences with diapers.

Absorbency
Huggies Natural Fit Diapers have very good absorbency. Pampers Baby Dry Diapers have a great absorbency as well. Both diapers can be comparable to one another in this category and I would say they are equal. Overnight wear has been very successful as far as absorbency goes in both brands for all of the children I’ve used them on. However, although Huggies absorbs well, there is a leakage problem, described in more detail below.

Leakage
Pampers Baby Dry has never leaked in my experience. These have been used on both boys and girls. They are tough enough to handle night time loads and even those occasional “explosions” of nasty mess that can occur when baby has had too much to eat or is just sick. However, Huggies Natural Fit leaks through the sides every time a child has a bowel movement. Huggies also leaks through the top and sides on boys if they wear it during nap time or overnight. Since the sides are so narrow, if the child is active, the sides tend to bunch up and leave an opening, leading to leaks. This occurs after even just a few minutes of movement.

Comfort and Fit
The Huggies Natural Fit Diapers usually only fit babies who are a bit chunky. The reason for this is that the openings on the sides are a bit too wide. For a small to average sized baby, these sides are far too open, but if you get a smaller size, the diaper is too small to fasten around the waist. Also, the baby boys tend not to like them and always tug at them. The Pampers Baby Dry diapers have worked well in all cases. No matter the size of the baby, from preemie to huge, the Pampers Baby Dry has always had the perfect size. Even if a premature infant is too small for the preemie sized diapers, folding the front down a bit and then fastening the diaper will work. All of the babies seemed most comfortable with Pampers Baby Dry. Whenever parents would supply Huggies Natural Fit, I still found myself buying my own supply of Pampers Baby Dry for the kids in my care. They seemed most comfortable and more playful and happy in those. Huggies Natural Fit also gave a rash to many, but not all, of the kids. The rash would be around the area where the sides of the diaper were touching. I am assuming it is due to the elastic.

Flexibility
Both diapers offer great flexibility. Whether the child is running, crawling, or throwing a fit, he or she can move freely in either diaper, regardless of its shape.

Overall Impression
While Huggies Natural Fit does have some benefits, the benefits it has are also provided by Pampers Baby Dry. Pampers Baby Dry had all the benefits of Huggies Natural Fit without all the added problems. The only thing Pampers Baby Dry does not have is the “Natural Fit”, which really didn’t seem to matter to any of the children I have ever tested either brand with. They moved freely with both brands. Pampers Baby Dry also has easier fastening tabs that don’t wear off if they need to be re-fastened more than once. Huggies Natural Fit diapers had similar tabs as well, but they would come off at times and would not refasten well. At times, diapers would get wasted because of the faulty tabs. Whenever given the choice, Pampers Baby Dry will always be my pick.
