I am raising five children. There are four boys and only one girl! I guess being that she’s is my only girl I may enjoy these things just a little too much. Little things like doing her hair and painting her nails make us both so happy. There’s just something sweet and special about little girls. Doing these things together becomes sort of like a bonding time. If your little girl is getting old enough to have her nails painted read on.
Little girls who are asking to have their nails painted should be heard! Really there’s no need to offer because when your little girl is ready to have her nails painted she will not hesitate to let you know.
When that time comes there are only two things to consider. The first thing that you’ll need to take into consideration is if your child will actually be able to sit still long enough to have her nails painted and then for them to dry. Most girls over four can sit still to have them painted but when it comes to allowing them to dry there may be a problem. What I suggest is reading a story with your daughter while her nails are drying. Choose a favorite and by the time you, or she, is done reading the nails should be dry enough to let her play without worrying about them smudging and smearing.
The only other thing to consider is color! I love to use more than one color. My daughter is eight and she likes them fun and funky. I’ve alternated blue and pink, every other nails and she’s loved it! Little girls also love the many beautiful shades of pinks available. Nail polish is nail polish. There are children’s nail polishes and there are all the rest of them. Use either. Woman’s nail polish is more likely to stay on and is less chip resistant. Kids nail polish is packaged for kids and can feel like her very own. The bottles are also much smaller. I advise parents to hold onto the nail polish themselves.
Once you’ve picked the perfect color, or colors, it’s time to paint! Sit comfortably together on the couch or at the table. With her next to your side simply brush it on, one little finger at a time. In the summer toenails can be done too! Two coats may be needed but it’s best to not do them at the same time. Give the first a chance to dry. Nails will dry much more quickly without being coated again. Little girls don’t sit still long.
