Noah’s Ark Crafts for Kids

Play Dough

The famous Bible story comes to life when children create these easy crafts.

Popsicle Stick Animals and Ark
For this craft children will need:
Popsicle sticks
White card-stock paper
Template designs
Coloring utensils
Scissors
Glue

Print the pictures from the template on the card-stock paper. These designs were meant to be used in a mural, so you will need to play with the size, before printing.
Allow children to color the different animals and the ark with the coloring tools of their choice.
When they are done coloring, the older children may enjoy cutting out the shapes but you will need to cut them for the younger group.
After all the figures have been cut, the children are ready to glue them to the Popsicle sticks.
When they are dry, the children can play with them recreating the story of Noah and his ark.

Play-Dough Animals
Children will need:
Play-dough
Wax paper
Sculpting tools
Toothpicks
Paints and brushes
Pictures of animals to use as models

This craft is for older children as it requires a certain dexterity, ability, and patience. You can buy the play dough at a local superstore, or you can make your own.
Give each child a large enough piece of was paper to line the table (or floor). Give them access to sculpting tools and toothpicks (these will help keep a head or limb attached to the body of the animal if the part is made separately). Distribute enough play-dough to each child to make several animals and allow him to create whatever animals he desires. Display the pictures of animals you have previously collected to give the children a visual model.
When they are done, let air dry (unless you have made play-dough following a recipe that requires baking, in which case, bake their artwork following the recipe directions).
After the animals are dry, the children are ready to paint them. For extra effect, if the animals are large enough, they can glue on googly eyes.

Animal Shaped Cookies
Why not allow the children to create an edible craft?
Children will need:
Cookie dough
Animal shaped cookie cutters
Wax paper
Sprinkles and/or frosting

This activity is for all ages. Distribute enough wax paper to cover the working area for each child. Distribute ready made cookie dough or make your own favorite one.
Allow each child to cut animal shapes out of the cookie dough with the special cookie cutters.
When the cookies are cut, cook them following the cookie dough directions.
Allow cookies to cool, then sprinkle or frost.
The children can tell the story of Noah’s Ark as they decorate the cookies and enjoy their own creations afterward.
