My Birthday is National Failures Day – What is Your National Day?

Plum Pudding, Safety Month

Many people have heard of National Kissing Day, National Ice Cream Day (be sure to get your free cone from various ice shops that do giveaways) and other such National ______ Days. Who comes up with such days, how do they designate which day should be what? Why should my birthday (August 5th) be National Waffle Day, Atomic Bomb Day, National Mustard Day, and sadly, National Failures Day? Am I a failure? I do like waffles and mustard, not mixed of course. Although I can’t answer how these “national” days (and weeks, and months are determined), I can give you some resources for finding out what else is celebrated on your special days (anniversary, birthday, mother-in-laws birthday, etc.) I will also give a small breakdown of the funniest and most bizarre “national days” for each month.

I have found two great, but varying, sources for finding out what each national day, week, and month is. One is the most extensive list, The Daily Globe archives. This site breaks down each month, telling you what the special month is, what each special day is, what the special national weeks are, and even celebrity birthdays for each specific day. The other source is a greeting e-card company, 123greetings. This allows you to see that a certain day, say November 6th, is “I Love Nachos Day” and they allow you to send greeting cards to family and friends that are specifically for “I Love Nachos Day” so that everyone can celebrate with you.

Now here’s what you’ve all been waiting for: the list of the funniest and most bizarre national days.
