Smucker’s Blueberry Snack ‘n Waffles

Fruit Preserves, Smuckers, Waffles

Recently, I had the opportunity to try a new type of blueberry waffles that are made by Smuckers. Known for their delicious fruit preserves, jams and jellies, Smucker’s has now branched into other areas of prepared foods with their Snack ‘n Waffles. These tasty new waffles are available in several flavors and they feature a unique shape and texture.

Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of Smucker’s Blueberry Snack ‘n Waffles.

Size
The net weight of the standard – sized package of Smucker’s Blueberry Snack ‘n Waffles is eight ounces. According to the package label, the container holds four 1 waffle (57 grams) servings. In physical size, these waffles are fairly large and I thought that one of them was quite filling.

Price
The only price that I have seen charged for Smucker’s Blueberry Snack ‘n Waffles at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is the sale price of two ounce boxes for $5. That translates to approximately $0.62c per waffle, which I think is a very reasonable price.

Texture / Appearance
These waffles maintain a texture unlike any I have previously encountered. To me, Smucker’s Blueberry Snack ‘n Waffles possess almost a free – form type of appearance, with abstract shapes and uneven edges featured. When heated, the exterior part of these waffles is nice and crispy and the interior section is soft and sort of spongy.

The crevices in these waffles are deep and the waffles themselves are fairly thick. Each waffle also contains a sizeable number of blueberries and pancake syrup is already baked into each waffle. While I think that the texture of these waffles is mostly okay, I think that some consumers might prefer the texture of traditional – style waffles.

Taste / Flavor
I have mixed feelings regarding the flavor offered by Smucker’s Blueberry Snack ‘n Waffles. The abundance of blueberries in this product is nice and refreshing, but overall, I think that these waffles are a little bit too sweet.

The concept of having syrup baked into the waffles sounds great in theory to me, but in actuality, I think that I prefer pouring syrup on top of waffles, better. That way, the sweetness level of the waffles can be controlled. To my tastebuds, these blueberry waffles taste as much like a dessert, as they do a breakfast item.

Smucker’s Blueberry Snack ‘n Waffles are packaged in a blue cardboard box that features a close – up illustration of the enclosed product on the front label and a listing of all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information on one of the side panels. Inside the box, each Smucker’s Blueberry Snack’n Waffle is individually – wrapped in sturdy, attractively – designed wrappers that list all nutritional facts.

Preparation
These interesting waffles are pre – cooked and can be heated in a toaster, microwave oven or conventional oven. Personally, I think that the best results are achieved by toasting the waffles.

Overall Rating
It is hard for me to assign an overall rating to Smucker’s Blueberry Snack’n Waffles. I like the uniqueness of the product’s appearance and the large number of blueberries that are featured in each waffle. The sweetness level seems a little high to me and I’m not sure how much I like the texture of these waffles. Overall, I think that Smucker’s Blueberry Snack’n Waffles are worth trying, especially when they are on sale.
