Heartthrob and star of the hit TV series ‘Lost’, Matthew Fox has landed a role in the highly anticipated film, ‘Speed Racer’
The famous Wachoowski brothers are bringing ‘Speed Racer’ to the big screen. This will be the first time the brothers have worked together on a film that was not part of the ‘Matrix’ trilogy.
Last week ‘Speed Racer’ landed an ideal actress to play the role of Trixie in the film: Christina Ricci. The films other leading actor is Emile Hirsch. Hirsh will play the main role of racing driver, Speed.
Legendary Japanese anime producer, Tatsou Yoshida, originally created ‘Speed Racer’. Warner Bros and Roadshow Pictures are creating the latest film version.
Matthew Fox will play the role of Speed’s arch nemesis, the mysterious, Racer X. Other well-known actors that have already signed up for roles in ‘Speed Racer’ are Susan Sarandon and John Goodman. Sarandon and Goodman will be playing the roles of Speed’s parents. The role of Speed’s chilled out race car mechanic has still not been finalised, but it is thought the Kick Curry, an actor from Australia, will take the role.
The role of Jack in the hit TV series ‘Lost’ has truly launched Matthew Fox’s career to a whole new level. Besides working on ‘Lost’ and landed a great role in ‘Speed Racer’, Matthew Fox is set to take part in a number of other film projects. These are a starring role in ‘We Are Marshall’, a part in ‘Smoking Aces’ and a new upcoming thriller by Columbia Pictures called ‘Vantage Point.’
Matthew Fox is happy to admit that ‘Lost’ has really helped his career. When speaking about it he said, “I’ve also always approached my career as, ‘It’s a marathon, not a sprint’. ‘Lost’ is creating opportunities for me which I’ve never had before and I’m starting to take those opportunities and capitalize upon them. I’m having the best time right now.”
Prior to his well-known role in ‘Lost’ Matthew Fox starred in another hit TV show, ‘Party of Five’. In this show Fox played the role of Charlie Salinger, the eldest brother or five children that are orphaned after their parents die. Being the oldest Charlie takes over the parent role and keeps the family together.
Matthew Fox was born and raised on his family’s farm in Pennsylvania. His original career path was to work in the financial world of Wall Street. He attended Columbia University and graduated with a degree in Economics. Fox’s unplanned turn to the world of entertainment happened when a girlfriend’s modelling agent mother told him he should give modelling a try. Everything else went from there.
‘Speed Racer’ is currently set to reach movie theatres on May 9, 2008.
