List of Karate Clubs in Metro Atlanta

Metropolitan Atlanta, often referred to as Metro Atlanta, consists of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta metropolitan area in north Georgia.

This metropolitan area features a number of karate clubs where martial arts enthusiasts can explore and train in the popular Japanese martial art known as karate.

JKA Atlanta Shotokan Karate Club

The JKA Atlanta Shotokan Karate Club is open to anyone who may or may not have any previous martial arts experience or affiliation. The club trains individuals in traditional Shotokan karate, a style of karate developed by Gichin Funakoshi and his son Gigo (Yoshitaka) Funakoshi in Japan. Shotokan karate techniques are based on the solid, scientific, and physical movement theory and taught in spirited classes particularly designed to challenge various levels of ability.

According to the karate club’s website, unlike many commercial karate clubs, all of its classes are taught by its chief instructor, currently Darryl D. Adams. He is a 5th degree black belter with certification from the JKA/WF (Japan Karate Association-World Federation), acknowledged as the world’s largest and most prestigious karate organization.

Anyone who wants to try a karate class but doesn’t have karate uniform available yet are asked to wear loose clothing such as T-shirt and pants. Once a member of the club, s/he may purchase a uniform at the dojo.

Established in 1990, Imperatori Karate has over 400 active students. Te club provides encouraging environment to its practitioners. Located in Sandy Springs north of Buckhead, Imperatori Karate features a spacious 8,000-square foot facility with two large workout rooms, a large viewing area for parents, a state-of the-art weight room, a playroom for siblings, and an area for children to also finish their homeworks.

There are eight instructors teaching over 50 high-energy classes each week. These classes vary in both age and skill levels. Imperatori Karate offers a motivating atmosphere for: novices to reach higher belts; children and teenagers to improve their self-confidence and physical and mental strength; adults to become more fit, healthy, and well-equipped in self-defense skills; and students with years of experience encouraged and inspired to pave their own paths towards achieving their own black belts.

Traditional Karate Atlanta offers a number of movement programs for karate enthusiasts. The Introductory program is a one-month introductory course that gives an overview of the karate school’s system. This allows people to make a sound decision for their future involvement and commitment for karate lessons at Traditional Karate Atlant

The Adult program offers the most popular and frequent class at Traditional Karate Atlanta. The classes are divided into: Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. Before enrolling to any of these classes, the school requires prior class in the Introductory program. The Youth program is designed for younger karate enthusiasts (6 to 12 years old) where classes adjust to their needs and shorter attention span.

The lessons at Traditional Karate Atlanta are geared towards progressive exercise and training where students learn in step-wise methods that gradually increase in complexity and intensity. All classes must be paid month-to-month with no contract obligations in any of the program.
