Knorr Pasta Sauce Mix – Creamy Pesto

Knorr, Pasta Sauces

When I was single and lived by myself it was extremely difficult to cook for just one person. A close friend of mine suggested I try the Knorr Pasta Sauces mix. She said that they were so easy to make and it would be a perfect quick meal for a single person. I figured it couldn’t hurt to try it so I went to the supermarket and bought one bag of mix. I purchased the creamy pesto sauce mix. It cost $1.89 at my local King Kullen supermarket. It was easy to find located right next to the seasonings and dressing mixes.

When I got married almost 6 years ago, I made the Knorr Pasta Sauces for my husband. At first he couldn’t believe what kind of cook I was. He was so impressed with a few of my dinners I made him. That was of course until I told him my secret, the Knorr Pasta Sauces. I just couldn’t let him keep thinking I was making these sauces from scratch. I showed him all of the different flavors they made and we decided to try all of them.

Flavors: Knorr Sauces come in a variety of flavors. My favorite one happens to be the Creamy Pesto sauce mix. My husband and I have now tried many of the other flavors as well once we realized we enjoyed eating them. The other flavors are Four Cheese, Parma Rosa, Creamy Alfredo, and Garlic Herb. We actually love all of them and have a hard time choosing which one we want for dinner that night. I couldn’t even rate them in taste order. They all have unique tastes and depending on our mood that evening, we usually pick one that we can agree on.

Preparation: The quickest way to make a dinner using the Knorr Pasta Sauces is to first buy a box of pasta. We prefer the tri color pasta, it just adds a little color and spices up the look of boring old pasta. Boil up a box of your favorite pasta, and maybe even cut up a few piece of grilled chicken. You can even the buy the Perdue chicken already cooked and cut up for you. This can be such an easy meal after you have worked all day long. Then to make the Creamy Pesto Knorr Pasta Sauce all you have to do is whisk the sauce mix and one cup of milk, add 1/4th cup olive oil in a small saucepan. Bring this to a boil, stirring consistently or else your mix will stick to the bottom of the saucepan. Once it boils, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about three minutes. Make sure you keep stirring it though or else the mix starts to separate. Wait until it thickens up or else it will be too runny. Each sauce mix will have different directions on how to make it. Sometimes you won’t need to use the olive oil, but you will need to add butter instead. It depends so make sure you read the directions on the back of the packet. The directions are written so tiny but look hard they are there.

Taste: The Creamy Pesto sauce tastes like you ordered it from your favorite Italian Restaurant. I love it extremely thick, not runny at all. I let it sit for more than three minutes to get it really thick. It is not spicy and won’t give you a stomach ache or bad breath. It taste smooth and creamy. You can actually taste the pesto in it. However, it can leave you with an aftertaste for quite some time. It depends on the batch though because I have noticed I don’t always have the aftertaste. If you cut up some chicken, or maybe even shrimp you just made a delicious and easy dinner for the family. Each sauce mix taste differently so it would be hard to write a review on each one. I could tell you that I have tried them all and they are all thick and creamy. Sometimes the parma rosa can be a little runny, I would have to say that one isn’t one of my top choices. The four cheese and the alfredo are thick and creamy like the pesto. Hmmm, so delicious.
