Hydrogen Peroxide: This Medicine Cabinet Staple Can Do More Than Disinfect!

Today I was thinking about the many health and other benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide . Since I’ve always had a bottle handy throughout the years, and have always used hydrogen peroxide and touted its benefits, I thought I’d pass on a few helpful uses. The peroxide used in the following is a household form of 3% hydrogen peroxide.

Put 1 ounce hydrogen peroxide in 1 quart of water and water and mist plants with solution. For sprouting seeds, add 1 ounce hydrogen peroxide to one pint of water and soak seeds overnight. Use a new mixture of the same solution each time you soak or water the seeds.

Use hydrogen peroxide on wet blood stains. Pour it right on the stain.

Use a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and water and spray into nostrils whenever you have a cold or clogged sinuses. It will bubble and help kill bacteria. Hold in nose for a few minutes then blow your nose into a tissue. (fill an empty nasal spray bottle with this 50/50 solution).

For an emergency-fix for a bad toothache, put a capfull of peroxide into your mouth and hold it for 10 minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

For a lighter, natural look for your blonde or light brown hair, spray a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and water on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. It will lighten and highlight your hair gradually.

Pour a cup of peroxide in your bath water to help rid boils, fungus or other skin infections.

Use hydrogen peroxide to clean mirrors with no smearing.

Use hydrogen peroxide as an insecticide spray. Put 8 ounces of white sugar and 4-8 ounces of hydrogen peroxide in one gallon of water and spray away.

Keep a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the bathroom and spray your body after washing to replace the acid on your skin that soap and chloride in the water removes.

Spray toilet paper with hydrogen peroxide before using.

Use hydrogen peroxide spray on a cotton ball as a facial freshener after washing.

Mix hydrogen peroxide with baking soda and use as a toothpaste for whitening and cleaning your teeth.

Use 3% hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash and throat gargle. It destroys the bad bacteria and helps clear up periodontal disease.

To prevent ear infections, pour a capful of 3% hydrogen peroxide in each ear after swimming, hold a minute, then let the solution run out.

As a treatment for acne, use as an astringent on face, neck and body after bathing.

Hydrogen peroxide works well to remove wine stains.

Straight hydrogen peroxide removes mildew.

Hydrogen Peroxide drops in the ears can help colds and flu symptoms. Drop in ear, leave a few minutes, then let it run out. Do this in each ear.

Let your toothbrushes soak in peroxide and they will be free of germs. (use fresh peroxide each day)

Use peroxide to clean counter and table tops to kill germs and leave them fresh smelling. Simply pour a little on your dishrag or use a spray bottle. Use in kitchen and bathroom to kills germs.

After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.

For foot fungus, spray a 50/50 mix of peroxide and water on your feet–especially between your toes–every night and let dry.

Soak skin infections and cuts in peroxide for five to ten minutes twice a day.

Clean vegetables and salad greens with salt and ¼ cup hydrogen peroxide in a sink full of cold water. Wash vegetables thoroughly and then rinse with clear, cold water and drain. This will prolong freshness.

Use a mixture of ½ cup water and 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to spray over leftover salad greens. Spray, drain, cover and refrigerate to keep greens fresh and preserved.

Use as a marinade for meat, fish or poultry. Place meat in a casserole dish (avoid using aluminum pans) and cover with a 50/50 solution of diluted hydrogen peroxide and water. Place in a loosely covered container in refrigerator for ½ hour. Rinse in fresh water and cook.

Use 1 pint of hydrogen peroxide to a gallon of water in humidifiers and steamers to keep them clean and fresh.

Add 8 ounces of hydrogen peroxide in your washing machine with your whites in place of bleaches.

For small dogs and cats, use 1 ounce of hydrogen peroxide to 1 quart of water for their drinking water and bath.

There are many other ‘medical cures attributed to the use of hydrogen peroxide that range from curing cancer and AIDS to building stamina and oxygenating the blood, but due to their dubious nature, I hesitate to add them to my list.

Hydrogen Peroxide is said to be one of the greatest healing miracles of all time.

Be sure to never swallow hydrogen peroxide or inject hydrogen peroxide into the body or get it into the eyes. Doing so could lead to dangerous and even fatal consequences.
