Homemade Baby Shower Centerpieces

Baby Shower Centerpieces, Baby Wash, Caterpillars, Pipe Cleaners

Easy baby shower centerpieces can be made without busting the budget, you just need a little creativity and a few items.

Homemade Baby Shower Centerpieces: Baby Gift Flower Pot

This easy and inexpensive centerpiece can also serve as a baby shower gift for the new addition. It is suitable for either a boy or a girl.

What you’ll need:

flower pot (plastic or clay)

green pipe cleaners

newborn size disposable diapers

assorted small baby items (rattles, teethers, newborn socks, pacifiers, baby wash cloths)

Start with the flower pot. Paint it and allow to dry if you would like to have a colored pot – or use a colored plastic pot.

Stuff the flower pot full of disposable diapers.

Next, unwrap and separate the other items, keeping paired socks together (if you have chosen to use socks).

Use the pipe cleaners to wrap around individual items or pairs to make “flowers.”

For example, wrap a pipe cleaner around the center of a wash cloth then fluff the edges of the cloth a bit to resemble a flower.

You might need to twist more than one pipe cleaner together to add length or strength, depending upon the item used.

Stick the pipe cleaners into the pot, positioning the pipe cleaners so the diapers will hold them in place.

Make sure that whatever items you choose to be “flowers” are appropriate and usable for the new baby.

For a variation of this shower centerpiece, ask guests to bring one small item to add. As guests arrive, the hostess or a helper can prepare their item and add it to the centerpiece.

Homemade Baby Shower Centerpieces: Butterfly and Babies

This is a simple and easy-to-make centerpiece that also provides a few party favors.

What you’ll need:

flower pot

floral foam to fit into flower pot

artificial flowers (any number)

wooden spring-loaded clothespins

pipe cleaners (assorted colors – but several in green)

ribbon or cord

tissue paper (any colors)

wiggly eyes

craft pom poms

craft magnet roll (optional)

craft glue

Start by arranging the floral foam in the flower pot then arranging the silk flowers. Next, make butterflies and caterpillars (baby butterflies!).

For butterflies:

Cut 8 by 8 squares of tissue paper. Stack two pieces together, then gather in the center. Squeeze a clothespin then place a drop of glue on the inside. Next place the gathered tissue paper into the opened pin, on top of the glue. Cut a piece of pipe cleaner or a length of ribbon to place in the clothespin for antennae. Fan out the edges of the tissue paper to make wings. Glue eyes on and you have a butterfly.

For caterpillars:

Glue pom poms onto one side of a clothespin – any color or combination of colors – then glue eyes onto an end pom pom.

After creating several butterflies and caterpillars, if you’d like you can glue pieces of craft magnet onto the back side of the clothespins to make the favors into magnets.

Once the butterflies and caterpillars are finished, add them to the flower pot centerpiece. Stick extra green pipe cleaners into the floral foam, then clips the clippy critters onto flowers, stems, leaves and pipe cleaners.
