Holy Basil, Sleep Issues

I suffer from sleep issues, whether it be difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep throughout the night. I was using a supplement called Magnesium Glycinate, which really helped me out, but after a long time of using it, my body must have become immune to it. It started getting harder to fall and stay asleep and I was averaging about three to four hours of sleep at the most each night.

I feel that my sleep issues may be a result of stress. I would wake up very early in the morning and have trouble falling back to sleep, so therefore, I’d be up for the day a few hours before I would prefer to wake up. Since the Magnesium Glycinate was not working as effectively, I decided to stop taking it and give it a break for awhile.

Deepak Chopra, a holistic health physician, who appeared on the Dr. Oz show, recommended the use of Holy Basil for stress relief. However, after researching more about this herbal supplement, I saw many other positive benefits of Holy Basil. It seemed as if this supplement was helping people with insomnia to depression, colds, flu and other mental and physical conditions.

Holy Basil is a plant that comes from India and has been used to help with several different medical conditions over the years. Holy Basil supplements can be purchased online or at a health supplement store, such as GNC.

After reading good reviews about this product, I decided to buy Holy Basil and try it out for myself. I’ve been taking the supplement for a little over a week now and I must say that my sleep has improved overall. I am falling asleep quickly and staying asleep throughout most of the night.

It is best to take this supplement at night because I feel that during the day it causes me to feel groggy and tired. I did take it during the day when I first bought the supplement, because I wanted it to help me with anxiety and stress that I had been dealing with. However, it made me very sleepy and unmotivated to do much of anything.

Therefore, if you try this supplement, it may be best to take it around bedtime only. It does have a soothing effect on the nerves. I feel more relaxed when taking the supplement. I can’t say anything about depression yet, which I do suffer with, because I am still feeling depressed. It has only been a little over a week, so I will give it more time before I decide whether it’s helping with other conditions as well.

I recommend this supplement if you suffer from sleep issues. I like taking natural supplements because medications may have bad side effects that I do not wish to deal with. Holy Basil, so far, has helped me to feel more relaxed at night and fall asleep faster. I’ve noticed my sleep has improved since I’ve been taking this supplement as I am no longer waking up several times throughout the night and I am able to get at least six to eight hours of sleep.
