Hobby Airport’s Best Eats

Airport Food, Buffalo Wild Wings, Food Court

Houston’s William P. Hobby airport is a stepchild no longer and it has the dining choices to prove it. The Pappas restaurateurs were the first to up the dinning ante after Southwest Airlines committed to bring international flights to the airport in 2015. Granted, the chain was already well represented at this airport (just like in the city) but the new addition is a good one.

Pappas Bar-B-Q – Opened July 1, 2012

Location – central lobby, near the main lobby entryway and is accessible to customers prior to clearing the security screening process

Menu – Kid’s menu – Full Bar – Photos

It is good and classic Texas style faire. The sliced beef (brisket) sandwich is a favorite. This is the spot if you want really want a long goodbye. It’s located before you have to clear security so you don’t have to have a ticket to enjoy a couple of hours with friends before you head to your gate. The prices are reasonable for airport faire – you can get a sandwich for around $7. They also serve milkshakes.

Buffalo Wild Wings

Location – Central Concourse near gates 24-32 Full Bar

Menu – Beer and Wine only – Kid’s menu – Photos

Okay, it’s not a Pappas but who wouldn’t want wings in an airport! I stick to the wings however, everything else on the menu looks like an after though. It’s a good place to pass the time if you want to watch a game on one of their many TVs.

Pappas Burgers

Location – near gate 40

This place has good burgers and an extensive menu. They are just a cut above (okay a small cut) fast food. The fries are the kind you get tired of eating after about 5 or 6, they get old fast. It’s not cheap, but it is airport food. A Pappas Burger will run you about $10.

Pappasito’s Cantina

Location – Food Court – accessible to ticketed passengers only

Menu – Margaritas & Beer – Photos

This is a good try and for airport food, it’s not bad. Houstonians, think Taco Cabana. The prices are high – even at the airport $6 for one fajita taco is excessive. This is definitely a staple especially if you need to get your Tex-Mex fix.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Location – Rotunda (near food court) – accessible to ticketed passengers only

Menu – Full Bar – Kid’s menu – Photos

Yay. This place will make you miss your flight. It’s a real restaurant with real plates (meaning not paper or Styrofoam) and a wait staff. The prices are about the same that you would pay at the non-airport restaurants, the Chef Selections are priced between $25-$35
