The French Chef
Julia Child (August 15,1912 – August 13, 2004), who is the author of ‘Mastering the Art of French Cooking’, was the host of ‘The French Chef’ from 1963 until 1973. Episodes of the show can be seen on PBS and on some cooking channels. Viewers can learn how to create delicious French cuisine in their own kitchen.

The Frugal Gourmet
This popular show first aired in 1973 on local public television. Starting in 1983, The Frugal Gourmet was eventually shown nationally on PBS for fourteen years. Jeffery L. Smith (January 22, 1939 – July 7, 2004) wrote more than a dozen best selling cookbooks that has shown millions of people how to improve their cooking skills at home and ind in restaurant business.

The Galloping Gourmet
Seven cookbooks have been published that include the recipes from this popular cooking show. Gordon Kerr from London was the host of the ‘The Galloping Gourmet’ and reruns can be soon on PBS.

Good Eats
This is not considered a gourmet cooking show by definition, but host Alton Brown give cooking lessons that are akin to 30 minutes with a food professor. He describe why and how to cook meat, vegetable and desserts that come out perfect every time, for him at least. Good Eats can be seen on the Food Network.

Great Chefs
This include a series of shows including; Great Chefs of New Orleans, Great Chefs of San Francisco,Great Chefs of Hawaii, Great Chefs of the West and many more. First shown exclusively on PBS, the shows are now broadcast by Disney – on their franchises.
