Strongsville, Ohio Bars

Buffalo Wild Wings, Mardis Gras

Strongsville, Ohio (a southwestern suburb of Cleveland) boasts many different options of nightlife. It contains big bars that get so packed you can lose your party and then some bars that your group is the party. I am going to go through some of my favorites, hell I might even throw in some I don’t like in case you do, so that the next time you are looking to go out you can try somewhere other than the default Buffalo Wild Wings.

Slim and Chubby’s – This is your hands down option if you are looking to grab some downtown fun without the driving risk or overly expensive cab ride. They offer a full menu during lunch and dinner hours as well as All-You-Can-Eat wings on certain days. Bands come in and out of this place all weekend long and specials are going on during holidays like Mardis Gras. Another great feature about Slim and Chubby’s is their happy hour. Not only does their happy “hour” run from 11am-7pm during the week, but from 11am-5pm on the weekends and none of those specials are over $1.75! For upcoming bands, a complete menu, or to see if you got caught by the camera check out their website: http://www.slimandchubbys.com/strongsville/

Mulligan’s Bar and Grille – Pool tables, a friendly atmosphere, and awesome food specials to go along with your poison of choice are some of the highlights for this bar. There is always a game going on and a person to talk to. This is one of those bars that draws the old and young alike so don’t be shocked to find a freshly 21 talking to an old golfer at the bar. For their most up-to-date specials or directions give ’em a call at 40-238-4447, they haven’t joined us in the website era yet.

Cleats Club Seat Grille – Located at the intersection of Lunn and Pearl this sports bar offers the best wings in town with the most flavors and for .35/wing dine in specials you can try them all. Cleats will also not be outdone by Slim and Chubby’s offering $1.75 happy hour specials on domestic beers and well drinks. There are also great food and drink specials during Ohio State and Brown’s games and an amazing clam bake once a year. This bar has more of that “sit around and watch the game” kind of atmosphere but can still prove to be a good time. One way to recognize that a bar is fun is that the staff sticks around after their shifts.

Strongsville Café – You want a hole in the wall with crazy regulars? Ding! We have a winner. I don’t think that I can even explain this bar, just refer to their website http://strongsvillecafe.com/index.asp to find out more. There are bartender bios, beer specials, catering opportunities, and bios for the regulars. It is going to be like Cheers before you ever even walk in the door. Just be sure to keep an eye on the clock on Sunday…they close at 8pm…I guess they have to sleep sometime.

Perhaps you are okay driving one town away from the comforts of Strongsville into Berea or Brunswick. Here are my favorite bars from each town.

Berea – Cornerstone Brewery – This is the priciest bar on the list, but definitely the most elegant. The Cornerstone Brewery does not offer your typical bar fare. Do not expect to walk in and order a Bud Light, they don’t have it. They brew their own variety of beers in house and will be more than willing to give you a description, suggestion, or a taste until you find the right fit. There is even the option of purchasing a sampler of all the current suds on tap. And as for the food you are going to spend a bit more, but you are going to leave more than satisfied. For current beers, specials, and directions check out their website http://www.cornerstonebrewing.com/index.html.

Brunswick – The Red Onion – Now this is a local bar. There are cheap brews, your friendly neighborhood psychic, karaoke, and a full range of lottery. Just come in and relax, or in the summer hit up the patio. Their website shows their range of food and drink specials as well as an upcoming psychic fair if you are trying to get in touch with the other side, or just want a giggle. It’s a hole in the wall but it sure is a hell of a good time. It wouldn’t of been around for 27 years if it wasn’t! http://www.the-redonion.com/ will give you more details.

This list is just a starter list of bars in Strongsville. There are many more, like Molly McGee’s, Johnny Malloy’s, McCarthy’s Ale House, Buffalo Wild Wings, Harpo’s, The Brew Kettle, and so many more. Each of these bars have their own personality and clientele so you are just going to have to drive around town and sample the spirits. Just make sure you have a DD!
