Haunted Houses in the Buffalo, New York Area for 2012

Screamers’ Hollow – on the grounds of the Sterling Renaissance Festival, 15385 Farden Rd. in Sterling, NY, taking place through October 27th (all Fridays and Saturdays) from 7 p.m. to midnight. Attractions include the Terror Town Tours Outdoor Hayride, the haunted outdoor maze Slaughterhouse Asylum, and the haunted outdoor trail Spirits on the Boggs (all deemed appropriate for ages 8 and up). Nightmare Hayride on Sommerville St. – this scary hayride takes place at 6319 Sommerville Valley Rd. in Ellicottville (home of the Ellicottville Rodeo) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights in October from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. each night. The experience features a haunted maze, haunted barn, vortex tunnel and tractor-drawn hayride. The entire experience takes less than 45 minutes. Tickets are $15 each, kids under 3 are free. Haunted Fortress – the annual Halloween event at Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown takes place Saturday, October 20th and Saturday, October 27th. The Fort is known to be haunted, and the Haunted Fortress tour takes you through the Fort’s haunted history. Tickets are $12 each and must be purchased in advance.

Frightworld – located at 3159 Sheridan Dr. in Amherst (Northtown Plaza), Frightworld allows visitors to explore five haunted houses under one roof. Tickets are $23 for all five haunted houses, or for $30 you can purchase the Frightpass and avoid the long lines. Frightworld is open through Wednesday, October 31st (exact dates and times available on the website).

House of Horrors and Haunted Catacombs – located at Union Consumer Square, 3757 Union Rd. in Cheektowaga. This haunted attraction includes six different haunted houses; tickets are $23, with a VIP Speedpass available for $30 (no waiting in line), and group admission for 20 or more people is also available. The haunt is open various dates and hours through Saturday, November 4th (see website for exact dates and times).

District of the Dead – located at 2309 Eggert Rd. in Tonawanda (Sheridan Plaza) and running through Wednesday, October 31st, District of the Dead and its new haunt, Lake Effect, are recommended for ages 13 and older – find all the FAQs here.

Your Final Fear – located at the Hamburg Fairgrounds’ Showplace and Bazaar buildings, 5600 McKinley Pkwy. in Hamburg (use McKinley entrance near Clark St.). This haunt consists of six new houses for 2012, including the 16-and-over haunt Stripped Identity (separate admission charge). Admission is $24 for five haunted houses and $6 more for Stripped Identity; there will be a “Kids Lights On” special on Saturday, October 20th, Sunday, October 21st, Saturday, October 27th, and Sunday, October 28th from 1 to 5 p.m. (admission $7). Dates are Thursday through Sunday, October 18th through 21st and Wednesday, October 24th through Wednesday, October 31st (times vary – check website for complete schedule).

Becker Farms Haunted Hayrides – Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m. through Sunday, October 28th at Becker Farms, 3760 Quaker Rd. in Gasport. Haunts include the Castle Labyrinth maze, the Haunted Hayride and Phylotec Biogenetic Testing Station; tickets are $9.
