One of the great things about living in Georgia is the number of public events and state fairs that are available for the community to enjoy. From the Georgia State Fair in Macon, to The Georgia National Fair in Perry, to the celebrated North Georgia State Fair in Marrietta (northwest of Atlanta) there is plenty of fun and lots of festivities to enjoy.

Georgia National Fair – October 7-17, 2010

Come to the Georgia National Fair at one of the mosty beautiful fairgrounds and exciting fairs in Georgia. The fair runs October 7 through October 17, 2010.

Approximately 500,000 people attend this fair to visit The Midway, see youth livestock exhibits and enjoy the home and arts competitions. Live music always attracts crowds at the Georgia National Fair.,

Headliners at this year’s fair include Josh Turner, Steel Magnolia, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, and Josh Kelley. Concert tickets must be purchased in addition to Georgia National Fair entry.

Free shows include the Aussie Kingdom animal show, Frank the Moonshiner (learn about the real deal, that’s no joke), Sea Lion Splash, The Infinity Show Band, Shenaniguns, Liquid Blue, Lisa Lou (an all around performer), Jay Taylor, The Tams, Natalie Stovall, The Procrastinators, Professor Gizmo, The Water Ski Stampede salute to country music and so much more. There is music and entertainment everywhere you look!

Be sure not to miss the annual circus, free to all fairgoers, and the pig races.

The Georgia National Fair is the most fun you’ll find for the money. So be sure to go to the beautiful fairgrounds in Perry and enjoy the shows and carnival.

North Georgia State Fair – October 23 – 3, 2010
The North Georgia State Fair is a treat for the Atlanta community every fall. This year the North Georgia State Fair will be held from September 23 through October 3, at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta, GA.

The annual event features contests in which local residents compete in crafting, gardening, and cooking. Students also compete in arts and crafts. This year there is even a Blue Ribbon Classic Car Show.

This year in addition to the regular attractions and festivities ther ewill also be a “Bear Mountain” show featuring education and entertainment using a different varieties of bear.

In addition to the state fair festivities there is a grand carnival on the midway, nightly concerts, and plenty of cotton candy, candy apples, brats, corndogs, hotdogs, and more. It is a feast for the senses.

The North Georgia State Fair features a free concert with park admission. This year’s featured guests include Diamond Rio, Jake Owen, Eden’s Edge, Hawk Nelson, Mark Wills, and Charlie Daniels.

Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students, and parking is $3.

The Georgia State Fair is held at macon’s Central City Park, located in the heart of Georgia. Come enjoy the excitement of The midway, ride carnival rides, and view exhibits featuring the best arts, crafts, and gardening Georgia has to offer.
