In Marshfield Wisconsin there are a lot of things for adults to do. For instance the city is has more bars then we can count. There are also a lot of factories and a huge Clinic/Hospital in the area to work at. But what can kids or families and kids do together in the area.
Wildwood Park is located on the South side of Marshfield. They have a nice size zoo that has from monkeys to bears to prairie dogs in it along with many other animals. You can also bike, drive, rollerblade, or walk around the upper pond area. Here they have many other animals like wolves, deer, turkey, elk, and buffalo.
Right next to the big pond they have a stand that you can climb up on where you can get a better view of some of the animals. It is a really nice area. Also at the big pond you are allowed to let your children fish there, as long as you throw them back. There are mainly small sunfish in there.
In the winter time the hill next to the pond is used as a sledding hill. It is a fairly steep hill. They nice part is there is a lot of room on it so you don’t feel as crowded when there are other people sledding also.
The Park also has a lower pond that has some really cool fountains in it. They also have 2 tennis courts in that area and a nice playground. This is also the area where all the small shelters and picnic tables are to hang out and have a party.
Across from the park there is a Frisbee golf course where you can play at. Then right next to that course is the city’s public pool. Hefko pool has a great kid’s pool for the young ones. The bigger pool has 2 diving boards to it. There is always a lifeguard on duty. It only costs a few dollars to get in. It is a great way to spend a warm summer day and cool off.
Melody Gardens Skateland is the local rollerskating rink. It is entertaining for all ages. They are located at 1200 South Oak Avenue. They have fun skating nights that include activities like the limbo, the chicken dance, couple skates, backwards skates and many others. They also have quite a few arcade games to play on.
There is also a restaurant connected to the rink. There is a window where you can order items at while you are in the rink. They make there own ice cream and it is so good! They have a lot of flavors to choose from. Bubble gum ice cream was always and still is my favorite. You can also order food here. If you want something smaller you can go to the snack bar and order something there.
A fun place for kids that like to skateboard is the Marshfield Skate Park. They are located off of Ives Street next to McDonalds in Marshfield. Here they allow kids to skateboard, inline skate and ride BMX bikes. They have ramps and jumps for them to go on. Children under the age of 10 years old must have an adult with them that is 16 years old or older. It is a nice fenced in and well lit area for the kids.
Right next to the skate park there is a baseball field, 4 tennis courts and a nice playground. This area is also well lit and has picnic tables and small shelter areas to have get togethers at. It is walking distance from McDonalds and Burger King is you walk to head over and get some ice cream or a meal.
Jurustic Park is a cool area for people of all ages. They are located 4 miles outside of Marshfield at M222 Sugarbush Lane. They have creatures from fish to dragons to frogs and many many others that are made out of metal. This is a must see place! The statues are done very well and some of them are huge. You can walk around and look at them all. They are quite a few statues from this place situated all over Marshfield for decorations.
These are just a few ideas on things to do when you have kids. It is a great way to enjoy the outdoors also. Marshfield is a great place to raise families and there is a very low crime rate. So make sure you check some of these spots out, especially Jurustic Park!
